What if vet reward shard shields were given to younger...
The game is a lot easier now..... at least you can keep what you get now and no one comes along every bit kicks your *** and takes everything you go in the last hour....
All the in-game store is going to do is allow you to buy stuff from the Origin store without having to go to another screen or it may just xfer you to the Origin store without having to log in and buy stuff. EA still owns and controls UO not Broadsword and EA will never relinquish its hold on the purse strings no matter what anybody may think. Account Management and Origin Store is owned and controlled by EA and EA only, Broadsword only manages DAoC and UO for EA.
That's a very narrow minded assumption. There is no reason for an in game store to be tied to the Origin store at all.

I'd be fine making it 5th year. Hell, make them 2nd year. By year 2, as low as populations on some shards are, you're already making friends on other shards. I have shields; moving the wouldn't hurt me.
You really think EA will give up the purse strings, sorry it will never happen. EA controls DAoC and UO BS only manages it, they BS have zero to do when it comes to collecting any money.
I'm pretty sure EA/BS aren't gotta chance abit regarding shardshields.
I don't think anyone really knows what the ingame shop is gonna be.
If the ingame shop is gonna be a link to the web, it would already be implimented.
We can only hope that the new ingame shop is gonna be something like the "leauge of legends" one,where u can buy for either RP, or IP, where RP is a currentcy u can only pursuade for RL money, and IP can by earned by playing the game.
I doub't UO, as a game will survive for long, unless they are gonna get new players. (how they get new players is another debate)

Why there is no trader for Vet Rewards? Give him one bronze robe and get back a hellhound statue!

But sometimes I think its important for devs or EA or whoever to consider the large amount of players who feel trapped on their dying shards (at least a one time free opportunity). If in some way reducing the vet age eligibility for shard shields improved the game for everyone and had no adverse impact on people already eligible, I see no reason why it shouldn't at least be considered. But like many other good ideas (i.e. vet reward turn in), this probably will get shot down faster than the producer can say 'No' if brought up in a M&G.

You paid for gametime..that's what you paid for.
Your advantage is you got 30+ Veteran rewards as opposed to a 4 year player who only has 6 Veteran rewards. That's your friggin' advantage!
Are you paying a subscription for a game you don't want to play so you can get Veteran Rewards? Is that what your telling me!?
And most importantly, you didn't have to wait 15 years to claim a reward.

Veteran Rewards are a bonus program for long p(l)aying gamers as the name says. And i used some of them before i imagine that shard shields are coming.
And no, i dont just pay to get Veteran rewards, i play it the full lifetime (except 1997). First time i mentioned UO, was when Lord British dies. This shows that the dead is not the end but because it was the start of a long lasting story in the game for me.
And you have only wait 14 years to get transfers free. You have to wait only 1 day to pay for a transfer token. A solution could be a Transfer Token light where you can only transfer money and char including skills and stuff the char has on his body for say 5$.
But this solution will only lead to more ghost like shards.
I do normaly transfers for free for all my mates and people which asks me. Free or One Year Transfer Shields are only for peoples which are a kind of solo player. Everybody should know somebody who can do transfers. Where is the problem to ask them?
Where do you want to make the border. 1 to 4 year=no. but 5 years?
And don't forget, the shop has to produce money. I am quit sure that they hate their own idea of giving shard shields away.
Can't wait to see how this "in game store" works. So Origin had all kinds of problems with people getting their accounts hacked and all. I'm wondering if these same people will be able to hack our UO accounts in some round about way. Like if they hack Origin and rip them off for a bunch of codes using my account will Origin then close down my UO account as a result? Will I be able to use PayPal with the "in game store" while I still pay for my game with my Visa card? If not it's useless to me. I hope they do this right or it could be all kinds of weird problems. Will it be automated in the sense if someone hacks my UO account will they be able to buy 100 sets of teleporters with it? I think this whole in game store thing sounds pretty interesting. But I have my reservations.

I have said it numerous times, I think they should do a lesser form of the Shard Shields for a lower year reward.
Say something like at year 5 or 7(since its half) you can pick a Shard Shield Replica. And this replica instead of giving a token every month, gives a token every 2 months..
Or use transfers as a gold sink. Set up a ingame npc vendor where you could buy account bounded transfer tokens for like 20 million a pop.
Could even make some kind of quest that you can complete. At the end of completion you get a account bound transfer token

Most tokens that players buy are not bought thru the Origin site. Most tokens are bought thru 3rd party sites that dupe them and sell them for cheaper then origin does. So I doubt that EA's income would take a huge hit from it b/c they arent really seeing most of the money anyway.. Well unless some of the rumors are true and EA or someone affiliated with EA is running said 3rd party website.
Decreasing account age requirement will make the existing problem worse. By "problem" I mean dead economy on lesser populated shards. Now more players will be able to move their loot to Atlantic for sale. New players will be even at a bigger disadvantage (we still want new players, right?) both from earnings standpoint and being able to equip themselves.
To actually remedy the situation you have to either take away the shields all together (not an option), give them to everyone (probably not good either), create an intershard marketplace.

Well at one time UO sold game time to 3rd party sites and such at a discount. This was way back in the day. Not sure if anyone still has those deals going or not.
