Grid Container view as an option in the Legacy client. I can't play the enhanced, makes me ill, but I have checked it out and this is the one feature I would really love to see on the legacy client. Thanks for listening.

I would love to actually have a good looking client.

Both 2d and EC are turds in so so wrappings.

But I agree, 2d'ers should have the option.

What would be better then that would be the old classic 3d client containers in both the 2d client and the Stygians Abyss client should be optional though so everyones happy. and no I am not talking about the Kingdom Reborn client containers I am talking about the old 3d client containers that Kingdom Reborn replaced.

I would insist it's a waste of developer resources to add any new content whatsoever to the 2D client beyond compatibility. Afterall, 2D users don't really want change AND whilst they may complain a lil (ie, OP), we know they'll continue using it in its current form till they die of old age.

This is a good thing though, we can get two clients whilst only devoting resources for one. Win win!

ps thanks devs for the grid/list views. Can we get some other sorting options on them though, ie, by type, newest.

How many slots can you even get in a 2d container... 4? 6 if you downsize everything?

2d containers are simply too small for grid view to be useful IMO.

Could we just have ONE FREAKING DAY where the EC crowd and the CC crowd DO NOT post to, or post new threads tearing each other down in one way or another. It's getting old!

That's why I went with a very significant reason against the idea... on a technical level, love them or hate them, legacy containers are simply too small to support a useable grid system. If you tried to fit the 5x5 grid into the Legacy container UI area, the reduction in item size needed would make them nigh invisible. It's bad enough for some items in the EC with the larger container size to fit the grid view.

It really has nothing to do with which client someone likes better than which, it's simply not a feasible option.

I think you missed the gist of my reply there. To emphasise, there's no point adding anything beyond minimal functionality to the 2d client simply because:

a) 2D die-hards will use the client regardless.
b) New users will never experience that added content..

Personally yes, I prefer the EC but it's not about that. It's about realising best deploying the limited resources the developers have at their disposal to give UO a bigger, brighter future.

I fail to see a healthy alternative?

This.

The whole point of the EC was to make the compromise between added functionality and the "classic" feel that CC users were begging for. Eventually, the CC will be phased out once the EC comes out of beta <---this was stated several times by several different Devs!

What the devs and the rest of the UO community (those willing to try new things and have fun with it) are beginning to realize is that die hard CC fans have been lying to us the whole time.

They don't want to compromise. They just want more features added to an already antiquated architecture. They're too stupid to realize that when you add too much crap to a structure, it's all gonna come crashing down.

If the visual experience of the EC bothers you so much, send in your opinions to the devs. Especially since you seem to at least like the technical aspects of the EC. Otherwise stop crying about them not mending your comfort 'bankie'.

UOA recognizes 9 spots in a pack 3x3 grid. That would be acceptable I believe scrolling allowed and voila!, we have it! <shrug>

I really take offense at that bold part. I beta'd both clients ... and the EC is not usable for several reasons (to me). The two primary ones being the small size of the items and what I consider to be sub-standard graphics.

I *would* change if there was a suitable client that would not strain my eyes (19" widescreen monitor) and allow me have a usable desktop at the same time.

Seen the graphics for the new game - Avatar (like the movie and based on it)? They are full 3D, clear as a bell - even the terrain. THAT is what the EC should be.

Well, I would play the EC if i could. Really, I would. But one reason I have stuck with UO and the LC is that most games make me physically ill. If I try to play a first person shooter like DOOM, you might as well bury me i get so ill. I don't go to the abyss and farm coins because I can't loot the corpses and kill at same time because I have to move everything in the corpse.

This would encourage me to use an unnamed cheat program for autolooting, and I don't. I am not asking for that to be added to the client. It would be great but not asking for more than to open the corpse and see everything in it without having to move stuff around.

In the citadel, while looking for keys, I might have to move one of the crates for a quest to check under it for a key, and you can't move it but to your own pack. And once you get it in your pack it a pain to get rid of.

This is not a debate over which client is better, but simply a request from someone who would like to use EC but really cant.

Hm, yea, have to agree, the pack is way too small :(
No good way to organize 50+ items

With a full pack that would be nearly fourteen pages to scroll through. EC uses a five by five grid for a maximum of five pages and even that's too many at times.

I would like them to continue to enhance the enhanced client, and keep the classic client classic. Don't hold back those who want to move forward, don't mess with those who want to remain the same.
