What happened to the prices in Fel?

I know it's been awhile...

They used to have faction vendors selling empty potion bottles, regs, boards... I forget what else. I used to visit these vendors in Fel, get supply up for my magery needs, back before we had our low-regs armor. The rules kept changing, then they started letting murderers into the guarded zones, I lost my taste for any NPC shopping. I know that there is nothing to worry about, but I don’t trust a system they keep turning off the “guards” call... and they make me nervous.

Still, even taking a chance... I would go for taxidermy kits. 100k in Tram, 75k in Fel. Easily, you could buy a small bag full and make all the classic trophies to sell and charge 80k each. That’s a small enough profit for me to sell them when people are interested. The new fish come, some are able to be turned into trophies... I made a supply run only a few months back.

A couple days ago... I go to Fel to buy more kits. Now they are 400k a pop! That’s a deal? Did NPC vendors start smoking crack and no one said anything about it? I mean... What the hell?

If this is a result to punish those who want to make the fish trophies, they should have made a new kit that costs more. It's hard enough selling the classics for 80k each, forget 100k with no profit at all.

Prices are altered by the faction controlling the city you went to. Basically, some faction decided they don't want YOU to get cheap goods so they raise prices while they aren't shopping there.

Yep. Controlling faction can set tax rates. When my group gets control we generally fire all vendors and max out the taxes. This isn't to cause any of you shoppers grief, I assure you, but rather to replenish the cities silver treasury. Unfortunately all the vendors and low taxes take a toll on the towns, and these new days of Yew Gate Factions has left the central faction reserves low (meaning little to transfer to the towns).

Yeah, people used to buy reagents. Even at low taxes a town could make silver because players had to buys 1000s of each reagent on a regular basis. I never bought reagents from anywhere other than a faction vendor. I'd buy a lot of iron ore too, and boards.

What I love most about being a big vendor owner is when people try to tell me my business who dont know RICK about business. I tell them go pay more in Lagtown. I'm very careful, check prices all the time, and always undercut when I can. Some things are impossible for us to find/make/sell... like these kits.

Still... Who in their right mind would pay 4x the going NPC prices on anything?

Tied into silver or not, I have no clue what thats about... but it players can effect the prices normal NPCs sell... and do that so amazingly badly, then someone really is smoking crack. hehe All the complaining that no one comes to Fel anymore. I can't possibly understand why.

...or when they say they can get it (a 40-50k item) cheaper on another shard - well, not after paying 40mil to get there and back. Say nothing, just ignore it.

The faction leaders don't set the individual prices for NPC vendors or faction vendors in a faction town. They only set the tax rate. This effects ALL vendors in the town equally. Doesn't matter if they are NPCs or faction. The faction controlls the town. It's one of the perks.

Also, not every town in Felucca can be controlled by factions.

Occlo, Jhelom, Nujelm and Serpent's Hold are not part of factions.
