what exactly are ML blades ?

ahh ok so knights war cleaver falls into that category ? reason i ask is because i only get one relic when burned using the 'method.' thank you for your time Tazar

The Knight's War Cleaver is one that they use. Are you unraveling it at the Queen's Soulforge? Are you on a gargoyle? I believe that both of those are helpful.

yep and yep ... out of 30 KWC's i got 34 relics. i thought the ratio was "3-5" per blade.

I have not done it myself - just going over what I have read on the forums here. Hopefully someone with good experience will speak up with more detail.

Someone saying "3-5 per blade" is smoking something. "35 per tool" from a bronze runic hammer that has 35 uses, might be more within the realm of possibility, with a few not giving relics, and a few giving 2.

DEFAULT is 1 relic per item, with a random chance of 1 or 2 extra per item. I know my human with 120 skill only gets 2 from an item about 10% of the time, at the Queen's forge (and I've never gotten 3)

Also note that there have been more nerfs to the relic-making process than one can easily count, and 3-5 MIGHT have been true in beta, or in the last months of 2009 - but definitely hasn't been true in recent memory.

yep as Tazar said, it's quite easy in Heartwood. just take about 500 ingots with you and make them there right next to the forge.

All have the same chance and you can look at the amount of ingots to decide which ones to make as some are more efficient than others.

From 3 EX made - 2 had 2 relic and 1 had 1 = 5

So 7 relic frags from 5 blades.

2 Non - Ex - 1 with 2 relic, 1 with 1 = 3
3 Ex - 1 had 2 relic, 2 had 1 relic =4

So again 7 relic frags from 5 blades.

I realize small sample - but still a sample nonetheless.

I am surprised so many people do not use a High BS talisman and +15 Ancient Hammer when crafting items for the sole purpose of Relic Frag making! The charge on a ash+15 is well worth the chance of gaining 2 vice 1 relic frags, and the hammers are so cheap anymore if you don't feel like BOD running...

My experience is in line with Theo's for getting relic frags.

I recommend doing the Cuts Both Ways (10 broadsword) quest when trying to get the recipes.

I use Dull Copper Ingots when using Bronze Runic Hammer.
I get roughly the same results.
Did 35 KWC's out of dull copper today and got 43 relic frags.
It only knocks off about 3k of the price in materials to make a relic frag but money is money.

I use higher ingots (gold or valorite) when using lesser runics.
