hail, In this world we live in there is many views to any point. I would like to ask the age old question, which came first the chicken or the egg? in game and in real life this question has come up before. From my observations I have found this: As we live from day to day ,year to year things change, animals change, people change. Most would say silly question the egg came first. I would like to say that we all on this earth are in constant change. and tho clearly what was born came from said egg, I must conject that what layed the first chicken egg was in deed not a chicken as you would call it but a distant relative. One clear in game point that supports this is chicken lizard eggs. some are in deed chicken lizards that come from egg, others are battle lizards. same egg two distinctly diferent creatures. Related by common mothers but diferent creatures . So in closing I would like to say again what layed the first chicken egg was more than likely not a chicken but a distant relative to the chicken. If for any reason we made you think there is a chance I may be right in my words please vote the chicken came first. This post is not intended to discredit any other popular believes about conception, but is designed to make one think about that around us. And to see in a ballot what others believe. happy gaming.

Assuming you are talking about a chicken egg (because a crocodile, among other creatures also lay eggs), it then depends upon how a chicken egg is defined. Is the egg defined by what lays it or what comes out of it.

Evolution:
If an agg "type" is defined by what lays it, then the chicken must have come 1st.
If an egg "type" is defined by what comes out of the egg, then the chicken egg came 1st.

Creationism:
Depends if God made chickens or chicken eggs first...you will have to ask him/her.

In UO, it appears to be defined by what is in the egg, as a Battle Chicken Lizard egg comes form a chicken lizard, as does a chicken lizard egg.

There, see how I tied this crazy post to UO? :) Still, I bet it gets moved. :)

LordDrago, valiant effort.

The single-cell organism came first. Later came the chicken.

Here's an edited summary of the whole history:

Had to be the chicken. The chicken egg is laid by a chicken. Hence, if there were no chickens, there would be no chicken eggs, just "eggs".

This is also shown in UO, as I have never seen a chicken egg spawn and hatch, only chickens.

...

Obvious answer: The Spawn "Egg" used to make the chicken appear as part of a random set of animals within a defined area of the game world :p

In order for there to be a *chicken* the egg came first. An animal that was not classified as a *Chicken* laid an egg, by some form of mutation or evolution the creature that was produced from the egg was then classified as a *chicken*. Thus the egg came first.

In reality? Neither really. The process of Chicken Ancestor -> Chicken was a gradual process over a very long period of time....not a sudden change with the laying of a single egg, and it's not like what we define as chickens all of the sudden stopped changing the second we defined them as chickens. But if you were to draw a line at any point in there and say everything before = not chicken, everything after = chicken....well yeah, the egg came first then as you class the creature that came before it as squarely non-chicken.
