Those who say graphics don't make the game aren't thinking about the rest of the audience who are looking for a good game, those who aren't already playing UO. Yes, there is more to a game than graphics. But what is the first thing people out there are going to notice about a game when they are checking it out? The graphics. If the graphics look horribly outdated to them then they will probably put that game back on the shelf before even seeing what else it has in store for them. Obviously for us that doesn't really matter, hence us still playing this game, lol. But if we are talking about new players we are talking about the younger generation gamers out there. And they want something that looks good, not just great content.
