[Imbuing] What am I missing for imbuing/unraveling?

Ok, I have a question, my human crafter can't seem to unravel magic items to get the essence. I have a soulforge, anvil and reg forge all close to each other. I have a bag of magic items from looted creatures north of gargoyal city . What do I need? I'm a GM crafter, (smith, tinker, carpenter, tailor) I bought 40 imbuing. And yet the unravel option does not come up in the smith menu. Do I need arms lore or item id? Do I need a special tool? I've back after a year off but I've been playing for about 10 years.

But i don't even get the option to unravel any magic item, so I can get my skill up to 50.1 or more. I only get the option to repair item.

The option is on the imbuing menu- not the smith menu. (its on the bottom) Click the imbue icon on your skill menu.

THANK YOU, I wasted a week trying to look this up and figure it out. LOL.

You know I hadn't thought of that. I don't think there is a FAQ that tells you exactly how to use the skill. I think for me it took a while to figure it out also. First I needed to get upgraded to include Stygian Abyss :) then I had to figure out how to use the imbuing skill. Then they changed it and made it easier but still it's not entirely intuitive how to do that.

if you are using the EC in the non legacy targeting mode, you have to drag the imbuing icon to your hot bar, right click it, choose target, and choose cursor.

if you didn't do this, imbuing would just give you an error over and over again. it is ********, if you don't know any better it would drive you crazy. i think they finally defaulted this but not in front of UO to verify...
