What am I doing wrong?

I have followed this to a "T" for many times now and I can never get it to work. I mean I have tried just the number, just the name, name and number, with the <> with out the <> with commas, without commas, caps, no caps.

I am fully updated, using classic client, what else am I missing????

and no I am not a perpetual pager, but every time I ever have, it just doesn't work. My reason this time? Seriously racists comments.

To report someone in the chat channel:

1. Open the Help Menu by clicking on "Help" on the menu bar.
2. Select "Another player is harassing me".
3. Select "Verbal Harassment".
4. Enter a brief description and click on the "Okay" button.
5. Select "Type Player ID's of Involved Players from Chat".
6. Enter the ID numbers of the offending players in chat. (If you see in chat: "<12345678>John: hi" then the ID would be 12345678).
7. GMs will be able to pull chat logs from those ID's and take any necessary action.

Disruptive Behavior:

Be aware that in addition to the Verbal Harassment policy there is also a seperate Disruptive Behavior policy. Disruptive Behavior applies to the use of Vulgarity, Racism, and Objectionable Content in public chat channels such as the General channel. Unlike Verbal Harassment you do not need to ask players to stop or take any other additional steps prior to reporting this behavior. Unlike the default channels we do not tolerate the use of profanity in public chat channels so for Disruptive Behavior you may simply witness a player using vulgarity a few times in a public channel and skip straight to reporting them. For rather obvious reasons this means you should avoid responding to such players with more vulgarity in those same public chat channels lest you both end up in jail.

Do you mean:
you report per(your) steps above ... and player remains in chat?

Also in my experience it works best to target players or choosing them from a list of available players instead of typing there names/id numbers.

To Fayled: I do the steps and it says I did not give a valid target or some such wording. It never submits.

To Devils: I get the you didn't give a valid target.

To cdavbar: This is in the general chat and I tried that method and there is no one in the list.

If I choose other, they just send me a you gotta use the harassment.
