welcome to the only real slice of uo left.
i started on prodo shards before trammel existed.
i played for a while on siege, then was enticed by the ease of "normal" shards and left . i spent quite a few years on prodo shards , but grew bored with it all and returned. best desision ive made ... havent looked back.
i can tell you i have built gm tamers on more than a couple shards and siege was actually the easiest time i had taming . ive even taken my current guy to natural 120 here . rate over time sounds like such a hard thing but in reallity for skills like blacksmithy and taming its so much easier.
for instance smithing on a prodo shard means sitting there for hours on end hammering out thousands of pieces to get your gains . here , you still have to grind your way up to 70 , but once you hit ROT, you make one item get your gain and log out . 10/15 minuits later you go back, make one item , get the gain ... rinse repeate. (saves you tones of ingots not to mention wear and tear on the old carpel tunnel.)
same thing for taming . once you hit ROT you dont need to run around taming every critter on the plannet . you tame one, get your gain and go do something else . 10/15 min later do it again.
personally i reccomend the polar bears at first , then snow cats and white wolves on ice island . wear crappy armor and cary an arcane item to gate in and out. if you get slammed , o well that stuff is easy to replace.
thats assuming of course you ever see anyone out there ... hardly ever do.
if you have low magery use a gate scroll (you can gate with 45 magery and a scroll ... takes a few tries but eventually will go off)
i would mark somewhere where the apropriate spawn is thick then gate in, tame one , release it , kill it and gate out . you wont need pretames here . virgin wolves took me all the way to legendary. you might need to tame 2 on a rare occasion . if you tame more than that and dont get a gain you probably are over your daily max for gains (or you forgot to eat... never train hungry). see the sticky "mythbusting siege" for full ROT info (its good)
you can try hitting the bulls at trinsic gate or delucia . you cant mark in del here tho . youll need to mark by the del passage in fel and walk in .
no biggy again never anyone in there and its a short walk.
when i returned to siege a few months back i looked all over for an auction house . i had grown quite fond of the weekly auctions on prodo shards. but i found noone here does that . i was even told its a trammie thing... (whatever) id love to see an auction house opened here , id come for sure =)
i made a post here talking about the idea some said ohh that would be a great idea (like theyd never heard of such a thing) others said theyd tried and failed.
biggest problem here seems to be the security issue . noone wants to spend big money and then lose the item right away.
someone had suggested making a seperate room for purchases accessable only by teleporter . youd have to set all your chests to coowner and then friend each bid winner for access to the teleporter . after they get their item just unfriend them right away. yes thats extra work but it seems the only secure way here.
the most eficient way would be to have a second person set as coowner running the vendor and friend list . put in 2 sets of teleporters . one set for the customer (set to friend) and one set for stalf (set to coowner). if you want to do it yourself youll have to design the house so you can access the house sign from where you stand to bark.
(if you use the 2 person idea set your secures to owner only)
some had suggested making the house private and only accessing certain poeple . youd have to have auctions by invite only tho and set up a day earlier for poeple to meet and get new customers on the list...even then it isnt foolproof. personally i prefer the teleporter idea . (why limit your customer base)
