Copying this for Uhall users so we can focus on how to better the experience for you.

Before the message from Syrus, I personally would like to thank Syrus and Stephen for all the effort they put into bringing us up to date. Improvements were needed to get around all the down time we were experiencing. The cost of new forums was not minimal and we would like to thank George Vanous for investing more time, energy and dollars into much needed resources. Stratics has hobbled along over the years much like our beloved UO and while it may take some adjustment to the new style and layout please trust that we have the very best of intentions for this community.

After over 30 hours of downtime for data migration, plugin installation, forum configuration, and search indexing, we are finally live on XenForo! Please have a look around and let us know if you have questions or see any bugs.

As a reminder, forum things were not migrated by the system. First, user albums werenot transferred. We will be researching a new user album plugin. Meanwhile, user albums will continue to be accessible on OLD forums. Second, any locally-hosted signatures are not transferred. Instructions for adding your signature to the NEW forums are located here. Third, infraction histories are not transferred. We will reference and restore old histories on a case-by-case basis. Ideally, we will not have a need to review these histories and your shiny, new accounts will remain spotless. Finally, themes are not transferred. I have done my best to re-create the primary Stratics theme, UO Classic. I am trying to contract a developer to make two new, custom themes for us, but these are not yet complete. Also, we would be thrilled to review user or staff-submitted themes for inclusion in our repertoire of themes.

In the coming hours or days, we will be opening a support and bug report forum attached to Stratics Central. Also, we are working to re-open the old forums as read-only. Moreover, we will be bringing our smilies over from the old forums. Finally, I will continue to seek a developer to create a couple of custom themes for us and I will also install a couple of out-of-the-box themes to provide some variety.

Ohh do not like the black :/ too dark but the blue one is kinda nice I personally like this default, it's more like the *old* stratics...nice beige and light grey..very light and sunshiny!

I took a quick glance in the help section to see the info on formatting options. I hope you'll be able to add an option in the future to be able to hide text with a "spoiler" type tag or cover, or something.

I really am enjoying the new forum setup though...it's fun to explore all the new features. I'm not too concerned about the formatting choices as yet. It's actually kind of refreshing to see things in a new way. I can't say I've run across anything yet that I actually strongly dislike and have definitely seen some new stuff that I think will be fun to use.

I agree! I'll look into getting some new BBCode, including the spoiler tag.

By the way, I've added a couple new styles to hold us over until we get our custom styles.

There's a couple nice things about these new forums, but a lot of bad things too, the short version for now

Nice things:
1. dark theme available (though you didn't change the logo from default)
2. ACTUALLY bothers to use CSS for styling (much smaller pagesizes than old stratics "use an image for EVERYTHING" style)

Bad things:
1. too much "web 2.0", it hides things like post page buttons until you hover over the link, and sometimes when you go down to click them if you wander the mouse outside the few pixels of a box it disappears before you can click it. Necessary buttons like those should not be hidden.
2. things like to move around while moving your mouse over the page which is very annoying
3. extreme overuse of hover popups
4. no way that I can find to only show the forums I want to read, the uo forums link reloads the whole page and due to the page size does not always jump down immediately (it's sometimes slightly delayed). Even then it only shows the top level and i have to load 2-3 more pages before i can get to the forums I want to see.
5. facebook integration makes me iffy, i would like some assurance that my account info will never be shared with them in any way.
6. too much padding in the themes, pages vertically scroll almost twice as much as they did on the old forums, i feel like i'm constantly on the mousewheel here

Only you are able to link your account with Facebook. I don't have your Facebook credentials and have no way of obtaining these.

you misunderstand my question :/ I don't have a facebook account, I don't want any of my information shared to facebook at all, and many other sites with facebook integration allow facebook to use their user info, which is indexed and quite often used to build their suggestions of who to friend. (among other things).

It's all run w/in house, and since everything was made and paid for by volunteers, no need to worry about us trying to sell out your e-mail address.

Intentional. Stephen, our sysop, and Mike, who founded/built XenForo, are tweaking some db stuff atm. This should be over shortly and will improve performance.

Have to say, that so far, I really like the look of the new Forums, they are loading so much faster and look so much more cleaner than the old ones, mind you I have not delved too much into all the options yet, but things are looking good.

Great work! It's been a very easy transition for me. I feel like its much more organized which is going to make it easier and quicker for me to navigate my way around. I also like the page layout a little better as well, the old forums layout was much more seamless and sometimes it was difficult to seperate things. The new layout has more defined lines, boxes, etc.. which is making the whole thing flow a little bit better ...for me at least.

I hope so. It's not a default option right now, but keep in mind that XenForo is very new. XenForo 1.0.0 was released less than a year ago, on 8 March 2011. We're running XF 1.1.2. It wasn't until 1.1.0 that they had a warning system. Each release offers us a range of new features, mostly based on feedback from users. I'll check to see if this has been suggested yet. If not, I'll suggest it.

I like most of the now forums so far. I've settled on "Blackend-green" as my theme for the time being. I like the way replies "slide up" onto the end of a thread. Very sleek.

One thing I've noticed: When you mouse-over a thread title and let the cursor sit there for a moment, it pops up and slides out a small preview. When you move your cursor off the thread title, this goes away. On the drop-downs in the top menu, on the other hand (Members, Help, User info); when you move your cursor away, they won't leave. You have to physical click somewhere to make them go away. That strikes me as an oversight; something that should probably be mentioned to the XenForo team.

I use 2 computers and each has a very different connection set up.
My older computer, still working fine is a win xp, on a very slow dialup set up.
My newer computer is a win 7 laptop, on speedie as heck connection.
*being old* lol I don't always work with change even when I do make changes,
so I still use the older computer MORE on the slower dialup. Yes silly isn't it.

But I can safely say with confidence, a true test of how this new fangled Stratics is working,
on [DIAL UP] is that these new Stratics forums set up etc. is working for me on this slower connectivity,
as fast as my win 7 speedier computer's connection setup is set.
Now that is sayin something !! THIS IS FAST on win xp on DIALUP.
I haven't tried our Stratics, on my win7 speedier connected laptop yet.
Figured the true/truer test how this new Stratics set up would be working would be to use this older computer on dial up. Tis lickitie split faster !
Speedier than I ever dreamed possible, this new set up on old school connectivity. lol

Hmm, they shouldn't have. We tested the migration process three times. If you're having trouble finding something via search, this is simply related to our ongoing indexing issues. The threads are out there, though.

just a curious question, i have followed the migration steps, however being an 11 year member of stratics and having well over 15k posts plus and counting, the title under my avatar says "visitor" i thought that was kind of cute

When checking "postings" on other profiles and my own. There is only old stuff up tot eh middle of 2011 listed, except for the few postings made in the last couple days. I only noticed that there was stuff missing when i tried to find the spammers which were on my ignore list. Might have to do with indexing tho .. will see

@ Syrus: I can still see the content of posters which are on my ignore list. There is a small button saying "you are blocking the content of this user" and below that is the whole posting. When i click the "show blocked content" button nothing happens.

Aye, hehe. Trying to fix the user titles. It's more complicated now, but I think I may have gotten it right this time. About an hour ago, everyone was "Stratics Legend."

Yeah, that's part of the indexing issue. I see the same thing. If you go into the forums, you'll see the posts there, even though they don't show under your post history. We're going to get this fixed soon, not least because I paid $50 for that daggun "enhanced search."

Ignore lists weren't migrated over, I'm afraid, but they can be open now. Or have you already updated your list?

Yep! Just installed this last night. Try it again and lemme know if it still doesn't work. A couple of folks have told me that it's working now, but if you can't see them, we may have a problem somewhere on some theme.

I have an Iphone 4 with the tapatalk app and I still get a message to contact the forum administrator when I try to gonnect to Stratics. The message says: "Cannot connect to forum. This forum is either restricting access from Tapatalk or the installed Tapatalk plugin is not working. Please contact your forum administrator." I will try deleting the app on my phone and reinstalling it.

Yup. That did the trick. In your list of Tapatalk forums, you need to remove Stratics (swipe left, DELETE) - then re-add it to your list.
