Web-based Imbuing Calculator in Development (released)

Hey all

Edit: The Calculator is now open for business on Our site (Direct Link) hope ppl will take good use of it.

Stephen is working hard to finish the core for it, so we can release a very extensive imbuing calculator for our webpage.

it is beig developed in php/mysql/javascript (textcode languages with database end) and "mark I" will be availible on our guild's website at the end of the weekend or so.

i will keep you updated :)

Here are some needed improvements:

1 - You need to take the properties selected and add up the ingredients so you can figgure out what is needed to create the item (number of relics and other special materials for example)

2- You need to have ppl select the actual weapon so you can calculate the actual Mana Leech and LIfe leech which is scaled by weapon speed and SSI. Right now it all shows as 0-100% but that is not correct

3 - For recipe weapons - there are special mods that come with that you cannot remove. Those need to be shown by default once weapon is selected.

Woot. Awesome.

Would be nice to add in your skill and % chance to imbue + needed mats, but this is an awesome start!!

1. and 2. is coming on future versions.

3. likely coming as well.. and the core allows it, but will take some time :)

copycats...
by copycat you are refering to this flash based imbuing calculator on this questionable finnish host that keep loading page for no reason and doesnt work on my browser?

actually we not intenting to copy cat anyone, we just wanted one that works on all browsers.

in any case future functions to come is:

  • A database over every item, so you can get actual resistances and leeches based on weapon speed.
  • Resource list displaying which materials will be needed.
  • Imbued items datase where you can submit your imbued projects and collect data with an ID.
  • The ability to create an entire suit to see combined mods.

Greetings to you all, I guess it's time I stepped out of the shadows here on stratics..

First I would like to thank all for your input.. Any criticism is welcomed as long as it is constructive.. ;)

This is my first time working with java, and my knowledge doesn't really stretch far, but I have some plans for it still and there's lots I want to add.. As far as what you mentioned Theo_GL, then I was already planning on adding this.. The recipe items I didn't think about though, but will certainly do what I can to make it as versatile as possible, thanks for the feedback.. ;)
About the resources needed, I would like to know if the info should be based on success chance.. Because for example if you add SSI as fifth mod, then you would burn alot more relics that way.. Or is it better just to show the minimum requirements?

As Gil already mentioned the database.. Which was kind of the initial idea for me.. A place where people could type in what they want and just hand me a reference ID so I could easily see precisely what they wanted without misunderstandings in the dialogue..

No offense to Bliz.. I don't consider myself a copycat.. I wasn't aware that a calculator had already been done until I googled for some formulas and came across your post.. Which was shortly before we announced the calculator anyway, so none of your work has really been copied.. I don't use any of your formulas or calculations.. Not the same style, and I do like your style quite alot actually.. The features are really just logical choices..
It wasn't to step on anyones toes that I started working on this.. It was initially just for my own use, but as more asked about it, I thought I might work on a public version..
Anyway now people have a choice, and I know people love to have choices.. I wont get into which is better or not, because a) that's just silly and b) my programming "skills" aren't adequate enough for me to compete with others.. ;)

All I wanted was to give imbuers a tool to you.. Which I've done now.. Take it or leave it, but please leave feedback if you are interested in this project, otherwise I might not consider to keep working on it.. ;)

That's it for now.. Thank you all for your inputs.. Hope to get more soon! Fare well..

PS. Forgive me for grammatical errors, typos and if what I write don't make sense.. I'm not accustomed to writing on forums, plus I'm Danish and been told we don't make much sense in general.. ;)

Looks good :)

Not really sure you need to display Weight and Intensity though. Maybe instead add a few more functional buttons, like -10/+10 or however the current UO Imbuing menu is setup. Could always just have a java pop-up link with list of Intensities for people who want a quick look, otherwise, people using the tool don't really need to see any of the math.

also on armor needs the types of armor made from such as woodland armor Excample: Heartwood armor comes with the off chance of 5% HCI on it, or 5% Damage Increase.

Hello again.. No, no updates yet.. Only some minor bug fixes.. ;)

@ G.v.P, good point about displaying the intensity/weight. I will definetly take that into consideration!
As far as the -+10, I didn't think much about it as you can type the actual value you want into the input field, but I'll think more about that also.. Thanks for the input!

@ Bliz.. Too bad mate, I did like your style! Classic UO.

@ Bazer.. There are SOO much to be added regarding stuff like that.. hehehe.. Not saying I wont do it, just it will take a while to get it all covered! To be honest I haven't experimented much with imbuing other than on regular leather items. Quick question though. What's the weight/intensity of DI, HCI and other "unusual" mods on armor?

I'm compiling the itemlist right now, but I don't think I'll have time to get it implemented before some time next week. Was thinking about an option for material bonus prior to imbuing and with enhancing. I don't do the enhancing part much myself, but it could be needed to get just the right resis.. Let me know what you think.

Thanks again for the feedback, keep it coming! ;)

I'm not sure how hard it would be to code either might be more trouble than it's worth hehe. But true, can just type. Was just thinking what you'd put in place if you got rid of the other data.

Not difficult at all to implement.. Will try it out when I get home from work in the morning..

As for what to put instead of the current "info", then I'm not sure.. I was thinking about making a little icon next to each selected mod with a hover that displays the basic info, weight, intensities, bases resists and that sort.. I guess it would be neat to have a success % for each mod shown.. Could give an estimate on what to imbue first.. Then maybe have 2 colums of materials needed, one for minimum required and one based on the success chance.. Just tossing ideas out there.. Too tired to think constructively at the moment! *shrugs* at the thought of having to go to work in 3 hours..

I appreciate the input G.v.P! Thanks a bunch.. If you or anyone else has some more good ideas or suggestions....... or errors that needs tending....... then PM, ICQ or post here.. I may not get back to you right away, but I will value all serious input! :D

Right.. Time to get some dinner then relax with a movie before it's time to go to work!

Safe travels to all! :)

About the only thing I can see that would make this better would be the ingredients list for the intensity specified with an ingredient grand total at the bottom. It's already been mentioned and you said you are working on it, so I'm in hot standby.
Overall, I like this calculator and have it bookmarked in my favorites folder.

a materials consumed list as well as a materials for stats overview for the different stats is coming on future versions.

In terms of materials : Show what is needed assuming 100% chance of success. We all realize it doesn't go 100% from mod 1-5 - but we should know at least roughly the material cost.

Another nice mod would be to list the properties in the order you should imbue - IE Most expensive to least expensive.

Relic/Special Ingredient first
Essance
Residue

Then rank them by gem cost assuming vendor default.

Now I don't need to know the *actual* cost just the order of mods to imbue.

That way I save the Residue + amber mod for last.

This would be a great enhancement.

this is very possible, there is already have a page in development with mats values.

however high intensity materials are not burned on fails so these doesnt matter if taken into the calculations.

the development of the mats needed list is taking shape, should be implemented in or before the coming weekend.
