Why dont you make additional uo client that is based on flash for example?

surely it wont be good for any real fighting or pvp but it will be good enough to login to restock your vendors, do some crafting, talk in chat and to trading at bank and much much more things.

there are often the situations where you dont have uo but would like to login for sure to see whats going on. and when u are back to home u can open your real client and go do some action.

i guess if you develop web based client for uo you will be able to get much of attraction to uo because people will be able to login from theyr offices and other remote places.

also then you will be able to advertise this old game in completly different way because it will be largest and deepest web game ever...

Since polls only make sense in open forums, I moved it to UHall.

Nah. As previously mentioned we have too many as it is and both still need working on; particularly the EC assuming it actually stays with us (considering the previous "3d" clients that came and left only to be replaced by another).

Simple as.....

Taking away resources from UO to develop a web based client would be ludicrous at this stage in the game. We need all the man power we can get just to fix the bugs.

Definitely a No, and as for mobile clients on phones (android/live) etc... I think someone could very easily adapt something, hell i've seen the EC being played on a ipad. (search it up)

Putting aside the issue that they don't seem to have enough resources to properly support two clients, let alone a third, a flash-based client..seriously? Flash?

That would not only involve hiring new people to design such a cilent, but you just think people complain about performance now.

I had to look that up as I was unsure how someone would run x86 software on a Arm7 based chip without using an emulation layer that would make it run around 1 frame per minute. They're not playing the EC on the ipad, they're running a VNC client (like remote desktop) and playing from their desktop computer (the game is actually running there, they're just using the ipad to view it and send commands to the desktop). That works, it would be seriously laggy, and if you tried to play it from anywhere but home you'd have both your client's lag AND lag from you to the client (so you'd end up with a minimum (total) ping around 600-700 if you're lucky, more likely around 1-2 seconds), that's unplayable (oh, you'd be able to move, just everything would be seriously delayed, you'd always see what happened a few seconds ago and people would basicly just be jumping around) :/

Heck, spend a month or two and clone the CC perfectly in java, it's not really THAT complicated of a program ,and voila, they have a client that can run from the web, or on Mac/Linux/Windows (though I dislike java it's the easiest way to target every single platform at once).

He should have said HTML5. Flash is going Bye-Bye (eventually) to be replaced by HTML5.

But yes, if it were possible to do so without horrendous lag and significant suffering of graphics quality we would be able to play in Windows, IOS, Android and even Linux! I'd be all for it.

Disclaimer: I have zero insight from the devs on this subject.

If BioWare were to make a web based client for UO, pretty likely they wouldn't use Adobe Flash or HTML5... but Unity's Unity3D platform, check out the AngryBots demo.

That would be neat, but I fear its probably quite unfeasible.

I certainly wouldn't mind an armory-like profile for looking at my avatar and her skills, stats and equipment and maybe even bank contents but definitely not an entire client. What would be the point if you couldn't go fight stuff? I think not feasible and as others have stated, we already have 2 clients to work with, no need to add more.

As often as Flash does updates, they'd be modifying the client every month to keep up with it. On top of the changes they make themselves.

Due to the fact myself and many others think that there being 2 clients already hurts the production of UO, I - and I'm sure the others - have to say no to a web based client.

It is very unlikely that we'll get something like that, but sure! I'd like to have one.
