Siege didn't die because of anything Kelmo or Arden did ... if you want to get technical, I'd say Siege was stillborn. Yet another cool idea that died to a lack of attention, resources, and follow through. That players hoping to return to an earlier age actually made something of the shard is a testament to the player base and nostaligia. Not the shard, and certainly not the game.
fwiw, I've never been a proponent of no-recall. To some extent it's been counter-productive because while it was completely possible to kill people before they could recall (or run in to their house, or cross in to town) if they didn't think they had a chance to escape they wouldn't come out and play. The players who are outnumbered, laggy, or just bad at PvP need some reason to risk their neck.
Anyway, there's no going back, but if Kelmo and others are still having fun with the game and shard, more power to them.
