Way off topic question

First of all I apologize profusely for posting this question in the Tamer forum. I'm doing so because I'm having no luck getting this question answered in other stratics forums and other sites. Being as how you all have helped me so much with information in the past, I figured I'd ask the question here.

Ok here's the question:

I'm curious about _when_ vendor prices are charged (player vendor that is). Will my vendor charge me 24 hours after the item was put up for sale? Or is it at a certain time in the day that i get charged?

Example, say i put a sword up for sale at 10am on Origin (which i think is a pacific coast server, but i could be wrong). The vendor charges me 10 gp to sell the item each real world day. Do i get charged every day at 10am? Or do i get charged when the local server reaches at 12am pacific time? Or is it based on GMT?

Thanks in advance for any insights you provide!

I can't say that it happens at a particular time of the day, but I do know that it does not happen when servers come up in the morning.
I think that it happens at a time later in the day.
hmm, it would be good if we could get a Dev (hint, hint, chrissay) to respond on this.
As far as I know, there is relatively little info about the vendors mechanics.
hopefully we can get you a answer to this question.

Well this isn't the right forum, but as long as you realise that and folks don't pop up with a stack of OT threads, it's not going to hurt :) So unless anyone has any objections I'm happy to leave your thread and see if you get an answer.

I've not had vendors up for a couple of months so I don't really remember when the timer went. I got to a point of always checking each few days and ensuring there was at least a week to a month's worth of gold on each. I've a funny feeling it was the same time the vendor was originally placed, but don't quote me on that.

Maybe you'd get a better answer through the Five on Friday form, but I'd really like to know myself.

Oh wow, I was assuming it was server up. But I never bothered checking (I have over 80 vendors in three houses). Grr! This will make a difference in how I stock. Great FoF question!

Vendors start charging 24 hours after they were first placed. This timer is set off by the length of server down each day, so it gets later and later as each day passes. If you want to find out exactly when, you could have a friend place a vendor at your house at the same time you do. Their vendor will tell them exactly when the charge will be assessed.

I do believe that it is the time that the vendor was placed, but hopefully one of the Dev team will pop by and give us a definate answer.
In a way I wouldn't say that this would be OT, since tamers are usually the ones with the most to sell. :D

I thought I read somewhere that there's a certain amount of randomness built into the vendor charge system to help prevent people from bypassing the charge by taking their inventory off the vendor every day. Not sure if I'm right, but I think so...

That was solved by the penalty charge. If you take an item off before 24 hrs. you will be charged a penalty on that item. It usually displays the penalty charge for said item.

There are ways around the penalty charge actually (IE having another account buy the item).
