eve: So sorry to hear that you went through this kind of situation. As if dealing with the medical emergency weren't enough. And to think that it all went wrong because you put your friends request of help before your own task. Not fair :(. Thank you for sharing that story with us, I think it's important for devs to see that these "losing an item" experiences can be quite traumatizing for a lot of people.

popps:
I definitely agree that they should design a solution for safe house rebuilding. As you say, housing is one of the bigger and more prominent sides to playing this game, not merely "something to do on the side". For some it's the main event!

Hunter's Moon: Guild stone mechanism for the moving crate? BRILLIANT IDEA!

LadyNico: The comforting thing about being betrayed by someone is knowing that at the end of the day, they will end up suffering much more than you will. That memory of what they did to you will haunt them for the rest of their life. Where as you can think "good riddance" and shrug it off (after you get over the worst part).

Tjalle: Thanks for the gracious offer, but I insist carrying out the promise I agreed to. I can imagine how much work went into getting even a small house on Siege. Life is certainly not easy over there! (which is why I love it) How devastating it must have been for you to realize what had happened. :-( I can't remember now, but does the warning popup talk about being able to only own one house per account? Might be that it had not been implemented back then yet. You're right. I'll do that and just enjoy SWTOR for now. I might feel differently about UO later on, but I can't see myself ever becoming an item collector or house owner again. The trust is just gone completely.

Jhym: This was wisely said of you when you said that the memories are not gone, only the triggers that remind us of them. But that's probably one of the problems. The older I get, the worse my memory gets as well and I've noticed that in the past years I've started gathering real life triggers for memories from childhood, as if trying to grasp onto those memories before they completly dissipate from my senile brain. :)

I guess the old memories of UO are especially precious because as many of you know, the old days were the best days. Back when the servers were packed with people and things happened a lot and the game was still new and wonderous to us. I have to say that I can't count very many special memories from the past 5 years really.

JC the Builder: Sorry to hear you went through something similar. Thank goodness they at least fixed the bug after that.

With all increases there is 7*175 bank storage.
There is one boat per account rule active, so only 1*125 boat storage

On other side two 18x18 houses meant 2 accounts, so double above numbers.
Incorrect. One boat per character, not per account.

Long story short, this underscores the continued need for the moving crate to be attached to your ACCOUNT, not to your present HOUSE, this way it could, you know, actually be used as its title suggests it might actually be used for.

There is no easy method for moving in a game that is all about holding onto items, and that's something that should be corrected.

Couldn't agree more. Would like it as well if the design of your house were something that was attached to YOU. That way you could move... and rebuild your house instantly.

I seem to remember that this phenomena was noticed by idocers some time ago. Stacked chests would disappear. It seems similar to what was described. I only mention this in case any of the Dev team happen upon this thread.

Saphireena, I am sorry for the loss of your items. Sorrier still for the lose of a wonderful and respected player.

It was fixed about a year ago, you are correct Kelmo, if chests wre stacked upon house fall the pile would disappear bar one chest, not sure if t was highest etc, like i say, wer emoaned and growned and it was fixed

this sounds like the same sot of thing

BUT IT WAS FIXED DEV's RIGHT??

So sorry for your loss, I have lost alot of nice things in my time, but not everything like this, and it was supposed to be fixed

sadly i guess it too late for the "team" to do ANYTHING to help , rather sit there with the blah blah we cant help crap

If you change your mind, i can go some way i am sure to get you back on your feet

sadly if lost as much as it sonds like you did, not sure i could come back :(

Good luck to you

276 556 697 maybe i can help

Sorry to hear this. Too bad this isn't a game that understands these things happen and can work to replace items lost in this way. The next game you play will do this.

That does sound like a good solution. It would prevent a lot of heartache to players who lose their most cherished items and leave UO as a result -- especially players like Saphireena, who has loved this game for so long.

Well, I am not sure that it really might be too late to help for the "team"......

I mean, "if" the "team" is willing to help, "perhaps", depending on how long back ups are stored, there "could be" still help to be delivered in this case........

How ?

Just run the back up from a day prior to the loss on a standalone server, verify all of the House contents, copy it all and past it all on the current commercial Europa server.

And if all items are not in string of codes that can be easily copied and pasted them all, but need to be reproduced one at a time well, at least get this done for the most valuable and important items. But the existance of the back up CAN allow to double check what the items were that got lost. All of them.........

Help delivered..........

So, depending for how long back ups are stored, at least technically, there could be the possibility for the "team" to help............

Many condolences have been given. Now, best of luck and fun in your future endeavors. Perhaps one day we'll see you back. UO could really use your artistry.

Take a break, fiddle with some other game (I've been working on Skyrim, myself) and see what immediately draws your attention when you return.

Sometimes it takes something major (disaster or not) to let you enjoy something once again.

And when you pop back on the boards after your rest, perhaps things will seem rosier.

Plus there's always :pancakes:

Sorry for your loss. I feel like I lost all my stuff when I got rid of my account long ago, as I was a rare item collector and had a lot of memories tied to items. I had just got my Runebook dye tub too. I loved it and miss it. The music box was nice too among a lot of others. At least it went to someone else to enjoy though, but the great weight that you talked about was lifted and I went on to play Wow with friends for a handful of years and didn't look back. (This was around when Kingdom Reborn was out). I never thought I would come back to UO. I was wrong.

Starting over, I built a better designed house and had help from old friends still left on the server. Now it seems like I am in the thick of it again, running vendors and training crafting skills and meeting new people and reuniting with old ones.

Are there not many spots to place houses on Europa? Seems to me that if I ever wanted to update my house I wouldn't try to place it in the same spot for the reason of losing items. I would at least try to find a different spot. Ya, moving sucks - in UO and in rl. But with some help from fellow players you trust makes it a lot easier.

I never wanted a castle after customized housing came out in AOS. I see peoples' castles, seems like there's not much you can do with decorating, although I have seen some pretty good ones. Like one hallway dedicated to just statues, or one just for rares. Seems like when I decorate my houses, bigger spaces are always more useful. Not the confines of the castle. So I can imagine you wanting to customize your own house. With a little effort, it pays off and you have something to call home and enjoy even more because you made it. Best wishes to you. I am playing SWTOR myself. Maybe someday you will return to UO. But if not, you still have screenshots and memories of the times you had and the friends you met along the way.
