I was reading Hawkeye-Pike post nearby. I too remember trading and crafting around the blacksmith shop in town. If you needed something, that was the place to go. You announced what it was you were looking for and before long you could get in contact with someone to make a deal.

My idea is this: Give us a paperdoll function that would allow us to make a long list of what we had for sale. People could look at this list at their leisure, and approach a player listing your desired item(s) to make a deal.

I know there is a limited function in the paperdoll now, but the journal entry format does not work. We need it organized into columns so quantity, price, and description could be easily entered line by line. It needs to be expandable to include all items one may put there.

Such an idea would stimulate more social contact. It would reduce the necessity of having a Luna vendor. It would encourage people to seek out groups of other people where they would increase the chance for someone to search their list.

Books from provisioner. Write in the items and prices. Use scribe to copy 'x' books and then lock them all with the leaves so they cannot be reused. Litter the landscape with them ... <shrug>

Alternative vendor alternative. <chuckle>

Excellent idea, but maybe we could kill two birds with one stone here...

Anyone that writes books is probably frustrated with the limited options for presenting text. Maybe the best way to implement this would be to provide an editor mode for books that would allow standard formatting like colums, etc. Maybe even go crazy and allow it to import formatted text.

Make it so the book can be held in a players hand. Then folks could open your paperdoll, see the book titled: "Inventory" in your hand and they would know you are selling items.

Maybe make the inventory book larger than a spellbook and brightly colored so it's visible on the players avatar. That way you don't have to rely on folks opening your profile to read your inventory, they would see the "inventory" book on your toon and know that you're selling items.

Nothing else makes sense unless they create an in-game vendor search feature. There are more vendors than in Luna, but no one is going to spend hours on foot searching them only to find them empty after all that clicking.
