[Blacksmithing] Valorite Hammers?

I have recently come into posession of a valorite hammer and wondering if they are used anymore?

1. If i used one to make a weapon, would it be as good as an imbued weapon?

2. if i wanted to make a Undead slayer (or one that was more effective against undead) would i make it out of verite, or make it out of iron and enhance with veite?

I have a valorite hammer and a gold hammer and maybe a verite one....not sure but I got them all with the bribe system and haven't used them because at the same time all runics have gone back to making 25% DI on all weapons without burning a charge just for DI so I am waiting to find out if they are intentionally that way or if that will be fixed. If you purchase the forged metal tool then you can save enhancing for the last step since with the tool you won't fail. I make with iron and enhance as last step.

you should never make a weapon out of any material other than the base material.

Runics can put elemental damage on a weapon that are completely counter to the material (for example, I once made an undead slayer out of Bronze that was 100% cold). Enhancement or crafting out of special materials can only replace Physical damage, and then are still only applied after the runic properties (if any physical is even left to change).

If enhancing a weapon will make it over the top (say, adding 40 luck to a 100 luck sword, or using bronze to add 40% fire to a weapon already 40% physical, 60% fire), you might want to, but other than those limited uses there's not any reason to waste the metal. Crafting with, as opposed to enhancing, mainly means losing a LOT of metal smelting or unraveling the rejects.

BTW, Verite is about the worst possible metal for an undead slayer - it adds a little energy and a lot of poison damage, and poison is typically the strongest defense (if not immunity) for undead.

If you make an item and later imbue it, you can't powder it after the imbue, so many people just use imbued weapons as iron, then enhance with one of the metals that increase durability, after multiple repairs lower the weapon's max durability.
