UOGuide Future Plans and Changing Ownership

I always loved UOGuide; it was the go-to information spot for many years. I'm not quite sure I understand some of JC's comments about Stratics, but it's also not a hill I'm going to die on to get enough background to form an opinion. What I do wonder, though, is if this is too little, too late. Has time passed by UOGuide, and it has already been replaced by more reliable sources? That's an honest question, not social commentary. At the end of the day, does UOGuide still have a place in the market or has that void already been filled?

I would be interested in joining any team that was going to purchase the UOGuide website. I mentioned this to JC already, but putting it out there in the event anyone is gathering up support for this.
The overall failure of community management that was (and still is) the hallmark of Ultima Online was quickly noticed by all subsequent game developers. Nearly every subsequent title had an official community site, initially they weren't very well run and still spawned large secondary sites. There's little need for them these days outside of stray wikis if the game doesn't already have one.
There were several sites that got red hot because they attracted the player base of a single game. Each tried expanding into other titles and failed to various degrees. Its interesting from a herd mentality / social standpoint but in the end it just comes down to that old, tired expression 'it is what it is' .
I use UOGuide often.
I find it´s the easiest one to navigate with all the links leading to other pages. UO.com is great too for information but miss the "linking" feature. Stratics' wiki is visually the hardest (IMO) but shouldn´t be underestimated. I´ve found info there that I couldn´t find on the other two.
Anyways...
I do hope UOGuide remains available, one way or the other.

I do not think he is trying to sell it, just giv it to a worthy group that has knowledge and time to maintain it.

The Stratics thing he mentioned was probably the last real owner of the site before we made a fundraiser to buy it in the name of the community itself.
While he was a good guy and supportive of the staff, he was a bit delusional in his goals for the site and bought the site for the sole purpose of getting into a top-ranked MBA degree program by showing he massively grew a small business into a huge gaming network. It failed horribly and most of the sites resources were directed towards opening new websites that never even got 50 people to sign up.
He did get into an Ivy League MBA program though, and is a wealthy investment banker now, so I guess it worked out for him.
