T-shirts are only inexpensive when BOUGHT IN QUANTITY in one print run.

I staffed anime cons for 10 years, before health, gas prices, and the death of the parent who funded my trips as a Birthday present pretty much ended my con-going days.

For a large con, typically a 1-color shirt with 2000-3000 copies cost in that range - and while staff could buy them at cost, that was still typically $10 or more; with an actual STAFF shirt costing $15-18 (again, no markup for the con) because the print run on those was about 100-200 shirts, and only in the numbers/sizes requested by the staff a couple months prior.

Based on those numbers, the 2-color Town Hall shirts given away to the RSVP attendees probably cost EA the equivalent of 2 months of one subscription's GROSS payments (probably closer to 4-6 months of the net profit) for EACH shirt given away (but the expense is able to be written off as promotional costs).

$20 seems like a very reasonable price for a short-run shirt, provided it's printed on a decent shirt brand.

Most band shirts cost $17-20. So I think it should cost $17.

I made some shirt designs on Cafe Press just for fun this year, and their default is $17 for male shirts and $18 for female shirts (if any shirts sell you get a commission of like a few cents I think, not much, haha). A long time ago, a friend of mine made a Cafe Press site for the Yee Yee Yee Yees, a short lived clan on Chesapeake in which everyone dressed the same way and used the same template (fencer mage). Hehe. Of course, anyone who does something like that is breaking copyright law. So don't do that, kids.

On the topic of price, it's reasonable. Sad to say that in my younger days (back when I was stupider) I paid much more than $20 for a shirt that wasn't nearly as cool as this. I think I may just have to get one. It will fit right in with my teefury.com collection.
