Well obviously the anniversary rewards, haloween stuff, and next set of events are probably in this too and just not officially pushed out to everyone yet.. y'know, internal testing on an external shard to make sure the server doesn't blow up or anything.

You may want to add one or two crucial words here for clarity... It should be:

Players will no longer be able to scuttle a(nother) player ship in Trammel

If taking out pirates paid more than 3 minutes of farming, I might actually bother. Come on Cal, at least tell me "No way dude 10k is a lot!" so I'll know you guys are out to lunch and can quit complaining in hopes of it being fixed.

I wonder how they implemented the throwing change. Did they change the base speed for throwing weapons or did they somehow get rid of the 0.5s return timer?

Speaking of gargs and throwing, did the devs fix the HLD bug for gargoyle altered Mace and Shield Glasses?

I am with Norrar on this one. I am against this addition. While some folks will grief, it is cost prohibitive to make this a rampant problem. However, if this modification is truly deemed necessary by the Developers, then at least allow for warring guilds in tram to scuttle each other's ships.

Go to Fel? lol no one is there ... you could have some great battles.

I think it's interesting they went with that guy's channel idea to cater to Atlantic. I found no problem on Ches after the 20 min parking lot was instilled. Guess I will have to check out this channel stuff.

I hate the game design that you will need to mine/chop to get the resource. It only encourages scripting, and we will just have to buy off their vendors to get enough supply.

Please just let NPC have instant re-stock of 999, like they do with some NPCs. Problem solved. And if someone is STILL thinking about "UO economy": no, it doesn't exist. It doesn't need to exist.

Good changes!

But guys, did you read any of the long-winded discussions about

1. Cannons and ship-to-ship combat being too resource intensive and complicated

2. Fishing powerscrolls being too rare and the quests being too tedious (especially concerning the relation between work and reward)

?

All fishing will now act like every other resource gathering in the game. If an area is fished out you will get a message stating so.
==> This will kill crab fishing altogether.

Players will no longer be able to scuttle a ship in Trammel
I hope scuttling ships in Trammel still will be possible with the appropriate guild highlighting (green or orange)???

Agreed, %100. I would like to see the firing procedure changed. Such as having an NPC(think tillerman) for each cannon. The NPCs would do procedure themselves. Clicking on the NPC would give the following options:

1. Clean and Load Cannon Ball
2. Clean and Load Grapeshot
3. FIRE!

Each NPC could start off as newbies and through use gain skill and speed. You have to give them the resources they would need to use there assigned cannons. They also charge 60GP per real word day.

To reduce resources required I propose the following:
Cannon Tools, a multipurpose, multiuse(100 charges per, craftable via tinkering/Alchemist) tool that replaces swab, fuse, match, and charges

Ingredients
50 boards
50 cloth (or 1 bolt of cloth)
50 blackpowder

Blackpowder.
10 Sulfurous Ash, 10 boards, and 1 saltpeter make 50 blackpowder.

Saltpeter should be easily mined, only requiring 50 skill.

Hopefully the devs are not going to change anything regarding cannons, mainly because there is no reason to make anything easier. If it takes you more than 20 shots to scuttle another ship then you're doing it wrong. Likewise, if it's hard to collect 1,500 boards and 1,500 cloth for repairs, well, that's pretty sad. 150 swings from an axe is no problem if you use a use last object / last target macro, and you can just buy cloth from an npc. Like I said in your thread, your thread is not based on facts, it's based on your first time experience playing new content. You have some vocal idiots in there like Skrag, who hadn't even played the content, but not enough to go on really. You should have done five or ten pirates then averaged out the costs. That would be worthy of a "FACTS" tag to your thread.

Why are people scared to go to Fel? The funny thing with Trammel scuttling is that my friend parked his ship in Fel near emporium and no one has ever touched him. Meanwhile, some of my ships have been fired on near Tram's emporium, haha. Just get all your RP buddies to Fel, no one ever goes there.

Why not sell all types of ingots, wood, gems, imbueing ingredients on regular vendors for 5gp each? Believe it or not some people make there fortunes gathering resources for the people who are too lazy to do so. This reward for no work mentality will be the downfall of our society.
Because pushing play on a Resource Macro constitutes as "Work" these days....

I happen to mine "manually" several hours a week, as do several other people I see on my shard. Back in the T2A days I mined for what seemed like an eternity to pay for my first house. Maybe we need a statue that drops resources every time you click it, that sounds more like your style. :thumbup1:

Someone linked a youtube video of cannon-firing "action" on a general MMO forum I frequent. The reaction was disbelief, laughter, and scorn.

The whole thing with clicking four different buttons and targeting a bunch of inventory crap just to prepare a gun to fire is incredibly bad design from the ground up.

A note about boat mining:
When digging with a gargoyle pickaxe ore eles used to de-spawn if you were mining from a boat.
They don't do that anymore. Be prepared to fight in close quarters if you chose to mine in this way.

Actually, my thread is based on facts, and I only list facts. I did finish one pirate quest. I don't want things to be easy, I just want them to be less annoying. I could live with the boards, but the crafting of ammunition is an outright molestation. It has nothing to do with skill and experience, it is just a tedious waste of time.

Why should I have to go to Felucca in order to make sea battles? It doesn't make sense since we can do all PvP we want in Trammel. It shouldn't be too hard to allow sea battles according to guild highlighting in Trammel.

Sadly, what we've tended to see is many 'brave and heroic' PvPers bringing their blue characters to the seas on Trammel, attacking solo sailors or anchored boats, and then filling chat with bragging about how great they are and how 'Trammies suck'...

It just needs to be consistent - if you agree with open PvP at all times, play Fel. If you want selective PvP, play Trammel and be in warring guilds. If you don't want involvement in PvP anywhere, play Trammel and don't be in a warring guild. Simple, easily understandable, and something there for every one - except, of course, those who only fancy taking on easy targets (ideally those who are not there to fight back) and bragging how that shows they are 'elite'.

When someone points out that the entire system is a giant economic disaster where a single powder charge costs more than the reward for taking down a pirate? Well screw you Skrag! Have you begged anyone in chat to make you materials for cheap? Have you grinded up a crafting mule to make it all yourself?

You still won't make as much money as a newbie killing ettins even if the materials are totally free, but you need to bend over backwards twice before you dare suggest that whatever pile of crap design we're dealing with isn't a gift from god!

I agree 100% this will KILL Crab Fishing which stinks altogether right now because you lose 40% of the time anyway, not to mention 65% of the time you get plain crabs and/or lobsters. So having to pick up and move to a new spot every few uses will make this already overly tedious chore even more distasteful.

As well I do hope you don't mean to stop us from having RP PvP ship to ship battles in Tram. I for one was happy that we as guild and alliance mates CAN fire on one another as well as our enemies.

And I don't care about the loading and firing of cannons that does NOT bother me it's fine the way it is...

What does bother me is that for a cook I can take one pile of wood and turn it to charcoal in 1 click...

To turn anything into a pile of something in Smithing or anything else takes TOO LONG and FAR too many clicks... If I say make MAX it should BAM pound out with one swing the MAX number of a STACKED item. You know making shot I have to manually stack each and every one of the stupid balls and shot????? What's up with that?

And I thought we were steering clear of NEON and bright stuff. So why is it that many of the ship paints are either too faint to really see or TOO BRIGHT.

I want DARK deep colors... Dark Navy Blue, Dark Crimson Red, Deep Woodsy Green a Nice Hunter Green... And Dark Brown.... I do not want Mustard Baby Poo Yellow, Bright Cherry Red, Baby Boy Blue, and that hideously nauseating Poison Green. And if you gave us all these BRIGHT colors Why didn't you give us a White? If Gray can scale all the way to black why can't Red, Green and Blue go to the Blacker scale with more coats?????

Not to be picky or demanding but I don't want to sail about the seas in a carnival boat...

So let me get this straight. You're going to make saltpeter prices skyrocket like they did on the beta test?

I think this is the last straw, frankly.

I am not one of the players who spend 24/7 playing UO. And you're pricing the whole new Booster out of my reach.

If you think I am going to bother with this rubbish you are sorely mistaken. I hope your hard core or loony fans enjoy clicking their mouse for the next 8 years just to mine 4 saltpeter. I expect more for my £9.99 a month!

What a crock!

Ive made crafters on Ches, Catskills, and Origin, and maybe I'll make one on Atlantic as well. If I had a crafter there right now I'd help ya out, just the fact that you complained about content you hadn't even tested which bugged me, trying to give people advice about how pirate battles should go without even doing one. Then Pike just did one, which also pissed me off because he didn't even TRY to get better at doing them, instead he just posted here for the Devs to make pirates easier for him.

But yeah, I've grinded everything in this game, and I've asked for help. Rely on myself cross shards sometimes more than others though, ha. As I moved shards in the past with my PvP guild I recreated everything I had from scratch each time. Fun to be able to play each part of the game, imo: PvP, PvM, crafting. I'll look into templates for Atlantic.

All I can say though is my guild/ally on Ches have no problem with the booster, except one time all the Ships were invul for some reason. We got the first Orc Ship on Ches and got every one of our guys a ship after that. I have heard that the Atlantic community is sorta crappy, so I guess that could just be it ... I have no clue, I've never really entertained Atlantic, but I know the Origin community is pretty cool. Just sad to think Atlantic wouldn't sell supplies, except that cannon ball bug -- but anyone can make cannon balls. Usually think of Oceania or Origin as the shards that never sell anything, while Atlantic is supposed to be the biggest shard in game.

Right ... so if a doctor gives you a pill and says he tested it one time and the patient got better ... you'd take that pill, right? When a person has the audacity to put the word "FACTS" in a thread title the person should at least have some sort of a statistical average to look at, not just a first impression.

No one in my guild/ally finds any part of pirate quests difficult ... we've done over 50, easy. Five steps to load then fire aren't really hard for anyone to follow. As I said in the other thread, I even solo'd one, and after less than 20 shots w/ a Garg ship I sailed away moderately damaged to seek my reward. I'm forever puzzled by anyone who has difficulty with these quests.

I have to say I do wish they'd leave the damn saltpeter alone. Really. It's just starting to settle down to a nice bubble on Europa and, for the first time since the expansion, folks have enough.

The pirate quests are a blast. We've been taking various folks out, in party, and we've been getting rewards, the cannonballs and deeds. Been good fun, just a nice level for a group outing.

No one has complained that they're too difficult, you ever so brilliant little scamp. How do you type this stuff with a straight face?

I'm really, really, really tired of rocket scientists who can't tell the difference between "This is hard!" and "You made a ******** interface that takes eight clicks to do one thing!"

I'm just glad it only takes one input to cast a spell. If it took 50 you'd probably be sticking up for that too.
