We expect to have housing decay turned on by the beginning of next year. We are going to start giving everyone a warning, this being the second of several you will see. Please take the necessary steps to secure your house before its turned back on.

Yes there's been plenty of guessing and speculation and apparently Jeff tweeted some info on this subject.

They need to post it. Tell us when exactly it will come on. Tell us what they expect should happen with possibly some scenarios.

I don't think that's too much to ask for. I realize they probably will, however, I surely wouldn't be surprised to read;

ummmm no, means if your not a paid account your house will fall, the idoc thing was turned off, they are turning it on, no changes to grandfathered or properly placed house with paid accounts.

Why do I have a bad feeling that there will be some people that haven't played in a while but kept paying their subscriptions every 6 months on a recurring basis and had their UO account linked to a different email account used only for UO for security reasons and they don't check the emails on that account very often so they didn't get the notice that their subscription has expired. I know I had all of my accounts set-up that way, and so far I've had to go into each one as they expired and manually pay it by credit card. It did save the credit card info, so that does make it a little easier.

Yep lost my first account, as it was set up with an AKO email, and I left the millitary some time ago, but still got my renascence account at least.

Long before this went down. I am now down to the same email for everything to stop the confusion.

Jeff has stated that when the house decay resumes that it will enter the 5 day cycle and not just drop.

Also as far as I'm concerned if someone is paying every 6 months and are not checking the updates on UOHerald then it is their own fault if they lapse and thier house falls. They have been given warning and it is in thier own interest to check the herald regularly. I know full well when decay starts up again people will complain they didnt know it had started or that they wasnt aware thier account had lapsed. But its up to them to check thier accounts reguarly and ensure they are still active.

I don't get why people are so excited about idocs. It means there's one less active player / paying user of this game. We don't have many of those left.

So, pay up you freeloaders; and better get account stuff situated if you have stopped paying due to the latest EA (UO) account payment migration situation.

NO MORE DETAILS ARE NECESSARY AS A SUBSCRIBER, honestly.
(If you feel you require more details then you are simply hoping to PLAY the game more than just play the game..)

And, if a house has been unpaid and long-standing, due to buggy situations, then it will continue to be (again, my simple take on all of this).

For instance, I have an account that will be inactive for 52 days as of January 1st.
Will my house start decaying on January 1st?
Do I have 37 more days before it starts to decay? Or
Will the 90 day cycle start on January 1st?

If your worried that your unpaid account house is going to fall becuase the account is inactiive... then pay and get that account active again. Playing the 90 day game here is as risky as it always was and if it does fall becuase you've not paid for the account its your own fault for it. I have all my house holding accounts active now as I dont want to loose any houses.

I've reposted what Jeff has said about it and its pretty clear. When decay is reactivated those houses liable will begin the 5 day decay process. There isnt much else to speculate on this really. When I was tweeting Jeff he did say that there were some nasty bugs that they had to work on and that's what was holding the decay system up. Now I guess its fixed! As for the bugges housing falling? Who knows I guess we'll have to watch out and see!

It was stated that come 2012 sometime...all house decay will be turned on..
So if you havent payed for 90 days , it will start 5 day decay ..so renew or say good by to house.

All houses will be retroactive...if your account has ended 60 days ago, you still have 30 or so days to renew account.

They should reduce this 90 days to 60 or even 30..of free time..
UO can use the money..i wonder how much cash they are losing out on this 90 day free housing?

None. I pay them $39 a year X2, in addition to the four other accounts I have that are active full-time.

I don't need those two additional accounts. They don't have any characters developed and the houses on them are not large max-storage houses either. So EA is getting an extra $78 per year from me that they wouldn't otherwise get.

I'm personally hoping that when we get our new UO website that Jeff will instruct a new offical UO Forum so that we can get regular communications from the staff without having to worry about 3rd party moderation. But the reality is that Jeff uses twitter and uses that every day rather than here which he comes to pretty much when he has to. As for the herald, that seems to have more pot holes than a B-road in the UK. At lest with Twitter its him replying and not some corporate idiot behind a desk.

I will of course post his reply if/when I get it on here. But as I've posted before the house decay is an open/shut issue.

Yup, don't think anyone realizes how empty this game will be once they remove inactive houses. If you are looking to sell a house now - sell it. It will have no value unless its a luna house once this goes live. Castles/Keeps for everyone.

The good news I guess is I have hit 6million clean up points on GL. Whee.

If people were incented to move to the new server - it would be helpful.
Lets say everyone on the new server would get 800 skill cap. Lets say everyone merging to new server would get 2 years added to account age and 1 soulstone per character transfered.

Lets assume the new server has shard wide vendor search. Lets assume new server has no Luna houses and instead has rentable vendor spots like magincia.

What if you were guaranteed an 18x18 with 5k storage?

Now - how about that shard merge? People would be flocking to move shards esp if it were free and you could bring all your stuff.

Well, it would be interesting if they had a small set of servers - Say East US/Central US/West US. I don't think we need 1 single UO server - but we also don't need 29.

I'd move my Sonoma char's to West, My catskills to East and GL to Central.

I play multiple shards too - but not all of them.

It says it all really and they've given two warnings so far with the same data. I'm watching my inactive house now to see when it goes live.
