Swords clashed in combat between two humans – one male standing 6’2 and a female around 5’7. The young man was wearing typical battle gear, bright chrome armor lined with golden hues that seemed to fit every curve of his muscled physic. The young woman, who seemed to be matching every strike he put towards her, was almost identically dressed with the same style chrome armor. The two combatants were engaging each other in almost harmonious melee combat, neither one losing footing to the other.

Was quite a sight...the crimson was as scared of the elder as Casca was of the Crimson!!!

They have nothing to do with the Shadow lords...dont keep confusing the 2parts of the event.

If my reading is correct, there aren't 2 parts of the event per se....But there are 2 categories of villain, each with different motives.

That's my reading too.

Our characters are caught in the middle of some kind of dragon blood feud.

The Platinums will defend us, it seems....Largely because we have the same goals. While the enemies of our enemies aren't necessarily our friends, seems they are in this case. In fact, given the scorn with which the Platinums seem to view the Crimsons' ruthless nature and the respect for life they seem to have

("They [the Crimsons] intend to conquer the lands. Conquest, power, treasures, these are the motivations of your lost cousins. Britannia still hosts bountiful life. The Crimsons will pay no heed to this fact, in order to achieve their goals they will slay every living creature that stands in their way.")

I'll wager the Platinums even share some of our values. Thus, by virtue of (some) shared values and (many) shared interests, they appear to be our natural allies.

Want to be the Shadowlord event has something to do with attempting to slay a high-level Platinum Dragon?

Will the rest of us get to heal it up, I wonder.

We have no reason to believe that the rest of the events in this cycle will be Faction-only.

Having said that, there may be other Faction-oriented events (one event for the other 3 Factions, for example), but we have no reason to think that the rest of the cycle will be Faction-only.

In fact, given that the Shadowlords event will be held in Felucca, there will be a way for even non-Factioners to participate in this event: By killing Factioners. For example, red Shadowlord Faction members (if one is blue).

And I'll be there will be events of a more generalized interest as the storyline progresses toward the conclusion.

And things seem to be happening very fast now.

I'm not yet convinced of Lord Casca's intentions, so long as Inu the Crone still roams my home island of Moonglow. She brings nothing but ill bodings and I would see her swept away.

I would believe the same, that there are different aggenda's going on and that the inhabitants of Britannia are caught in the middle of the conflict.

Well, as you say, they were the best ... just recently buffed even. But they were also the oldest, the wisest, the keepers of draconic lore. But now they are mere lords of thralls. Perhaps they remembered the old days, perhaps they had some twinge of memory of life before Mondain? Or perhaps they had take refuge in some parallel facet where his influence was never directly felt? But now ... now the true heirs of the name of dragonkind have returned. Mere worms these wyrms to the crimson bloodline? What niche do those once ancient now find?

And how come existing baddies never seem to get involved in any fiction? Like the dark father and the Harrower. Neither of them or any of the champs or peerless seem to have any motive or personality. They're just walking treasure bags.

I don't know if anyone's really caught this yet, but the page on the UO site about the terrain of the new SA dungeon mentions some "new boss monsters of unparalleled difficulty, including the Medusa, Primeval Liche, and the Stygian Dragon." It will be interesting to see, once we enter the SA story arc, if the new champions have backgrounds woven for them ... but miles to go before we need to start worrying about that land (though it will be very cool if the foundation of the Stygian Dragon's story arises out of the arc we now see before us)
