Emptied the patch folder, tried again, just downloads the patch, chucks out the error message, greys out the 'Play' option... but the log clearly says no error!
Can still get in to the game by launching uo.exe directly, but why is telling me there is error in the client launcher, and no error in the log?
Edit : OK, I'm now baffled. Fired up the client without thinking when I came back to the PC a few hours after the initial 'failures', the PC had not been rebooted or any of the internet kit restarted - and it applied the patch it had already downloaded just fine and it worked. Why it failed earlier, I have absolutely no idea.... unless launching the client directly through uo.exe triggered something that meant it patched 'properly' next time?
