It's not the +5 stats, its that they are giving this item as the "end" of the Exodus arc which is a one-time event.
Now, if Mesanna took a few seconds to say "These will be available again later, don't worry!" people would most likely be happier.
People are also frustrated that this arc's global events have been...uhm...poorly thought out.

There wasn't a lot of notice for a lot of people. It's not like the UO site is keen on highlighting EM activities. I was pleasantly surprised to see this.
It's too bad that the book wasn't passed out to everyone in their bankbox, as was done with "The Shattering" a few years ago. Would have made a nice little memento for folks that couldn't make it this weekend. Oh well.
You can still get the book. I grab a few copies with my other toons. Just visit Honor gate.
It's a major blunder... and epic fail. Something like this is a clear unfair advantage. Unless folk are going to get such a bonus in future I can see many people being VERY unhappy about it.
And I'll say this as a person with literally HUNDREDS of characters I don't like the idea at all that one and just one of my characters will ever be able to get to 260.
This has happened in the past during AOS pre order where we were promised +5 stats reward for pre ordering and because of the unbalanced issue, they made it so everyone got the +5 to stats.
Same thing is happening again with this +5 stat scroll from a one time event..... I hope they make it available for everyone as well at a later time.

P.S. Origin still had a dispenser out a little bit ago at the camp. Formosa's is gone, though. Can't find one for Atlantic.
I don't really play on Catskills, only have one character that can even get around and has rune books. Checked the camp and it has a little table that isn't part of the normal setup, but it has nothing on it. So I'm guessing that was where you got the journals, but not now.
I can't find any journal dispenser on Mizuho either, at the camp or at Honor gate or anywhere else I can think of.

This right here is the problem. How could this have happened before and yet they are seemingly oblivious to the problems it caused? If I ever had faith in the dev team--and I only had a very small amount--it has all been lost with this blunder. It has not been but a few hours after Atlantic's event and people are already constantly spamming the general chat channel with offers to sell these rewards for at minimum 50 million and upwards to 100 million gold. And what's worse--people are actually paying for them! Basically what the dev's have done is introduce a way for anyone lucky enough to be around during this one-time event to get either a game-altering stat enhancement, or a free 100 million gold.
You will have the few who went to this event brag about it and also mention how it's not that big of a deal. Then you'll have the overwhelming majority of the people become livid at not only missing out on the reward, but at seeing these greedy people become rich merely because of the dev's lack of oversight. This may be the last straw for me. I don't like waving around the whole 'threatening to quit' banner--but this really is a slap in the face to everyone who just wants to play the game and not have to worry about missing out on receiving a once-in-a-lifetime character-changing item simply because they weren't at this single event.
Mesanna, please respond. Please either tell us that this was a mistake and everyone will be obtaining this stat increase--or tell me that you haven't learned a thing from AOS. Thank you.
I sure would be happier. Sucks that some of us only had 12 hours notice for this event. I would have loved to participate but was very busy today.
Items like this should be rewarded at the END of the Arc for all that participated not in the middle of ARC's on a 45 mins LAG SHOW of some EM's...
Or at least keep up possibilities to reach Exodus to try for your own scroll for a couple of days...

We'll try to get some word on the nature of future stats and scrolls. In the meantime, enjoy the event itself and set aside the worry until something concrete is shared 
"Decided" not to play an Event ?
There is players who may not HAVE THE TIME to play the Event when the developers decide to have it play.... It is NOT THE PLAYERS' choice but merely because they did not have the time to play, whatever the reasons, at whatever time the Developers decided to have an Event play out.
That's why I consider this especially unbalancing +5 stats reward totally unfair unless players who could not play this Event will be given the same opportunity in the future.
This +5 stats reward has the risk to become totally unbalancing in PvP (but also PvM as it allows more power to some players over others thus making them more capable of soloing MOBs) thus driving away from the game further more players.....
Yes in PvP they are, once again were playing with an uneven playing field. +5 stats is a MASIVE advantage in PvP. If its not corrected by the end of my billing cycle im closing down my 4 accounts and never coming back. This plus the faction screw ups is just the straw that broke the camels back. This is something my character will never be able to catch up on and it’s a Massive difference to PvP. It would mean I could imbue and extra mod on my suit if I had it.

But is this the only way this scroll is going to be able to be obtained? We don't know. I strongly suspect not.

I'll have to test them out tonight on my more established characters. When they first pop into your pack they don't show they are bound to anyone so I assumed the worst. One person said they didn't get anything because all they did was heal...another said they got one but it wouldn't work because they canceled the gump...another said the scroll just didn't work at all for some reason. I waited on my scroll because my character isn't 255 and I'm not sure if there is a special order you need to follow or what for this new stat item to get you to 260, or if the item even does.
On one hand it's easier to hit soft/hard caps now than nine years ago when AOS came out. On the other, this is the first time in nine years--if this item gets you to 260--that the devs haven given us a stat cap upgrade. That's kind of significant, and I know people will complain sooner or later. Might as well get the ball rolling now that Mesanna has a more active role.
As for the event and the boss, I love how things continue to progress. First we were given a static boss during Halloween for the Shard of the Dead event, and the current event is a nice exploration of what this game can do with those kind of static situations. I'll continue to hope Factions might employ the use of them somehow as either a capture the flag system or perhaps even a way to defend a base temporarily instead of using movement exploits on the ground (even though it's "legal").
As for the boss, wow. I'm really sad we'll only get to see it this one time. The special moves feel like an extension of Cora, and while I lagged a bit too much to understand all the workings of the specials, the whole drain idea and how there's this boss that's tough yet still manageable is a great thing. Well adapted sampires seem to be able to tackle the boss easy while at range characters may have a harder time, but the idea to make loot based on just getting a hit in was a great way to satisfy all participants, regardless of the item given.
I had about 9-10 client crashes on Catskills and 1-2 on Origin; there were far less people on Origin and the people stuck together, which made for a much smoother EM experience. On Catskills, people were all over the place, full of greed, mostly because there were a lot of scouts going around. I play about a dozen shards and build my characters up from scratch on each shard so you guys can call me what you want, haha. I simply got bored of my finished characters after awhile...after a decade of the same game, server colonization seems like the only answer. I'm glad, too, because I really enjoy Origin events when I'm able to attend them.

No Petra as long i dont PvP, but i also want to make decent profit as a trader and broker like these guys just do, i could use the money:
And even i dont care to much for PvP, this scrolls WILL be unbalancing the game - so there has to be a chance for everyone in the near future to get this scroll(s)...read my lips...

Yup nice to meet you as well... it was a blast huh?Not sure who or what you're disagreeing with, but my issue is the first reward we ended up getting. It's similar to the have and have nots situation we had after a certain AOS reward.

I was surprised to see the event awards selling for 110 bucks.. Think I'm still gonna eat mine though.
Sucks so many people decided not to attend.. it was certainly advertised enough.. I was the only member of my guild to make it though... I felt kinda alone until the fighting started... btw thanks for the resses!
P.S. Second time I killed Exodus... first time wasn't near as fun!
Heaven forbid everything in uo isn't equal, but i think you should sell these things as fast and for as much as you can. In less than 3 months they will be on the UO website for $9.99.

Or those of us who have to work..I mean its bad enough I miss 99% of the events because I work. Now I miss out on this stat scroll? Wow just wow they better have some other way to get this. I wonlt quit over it probably but still I am pretty mad.
Setting your video and audio settings to the minimum should help you in these cases...
Just to be sure I always do this before an event... and my rig's pretty up there.
But I never crashed once last night.
Too give them away at a event like that, without saying if they are or are not going to be available in the future shows a clear lack of understanding of the culture of UO. Which in and of itself is disturbing.
Well they kinda did... at least they did say (You don't want to miss this one) when they posted the date and time for the event.

I've checked and you can't get the weathered journals on Izumo or Yamato, even though their events are finished or, in Yamato's case, are still in progress. Hokuto's should be just kicking off now.

what if we aren't at cap, but have eaten a +5 already, or a +10? I have no idea what my characters have eaten - goofy guys try to eat Everything - even rare fruit baskets.
Well they are trying to get into the dungeon the wrong way, they are supposed to go south though the gap and then goto the top dungeons control room and though the hole! Not though the main entrance!
lol... you can always go to your character sheet and see what your stat cap is at.
It's basically one per shard and most have multiple characters per shard that would want to use it. So, yeah, it's going to be expensive soon.
I did Pacific after Atlantic last night; saw tons of newbie characters trying to just get one hit in. "Exodus killer 1, 2, 3, etc."
Hehe. I switched to Hokuto and did that. Have a bunch of screen shots but had to stop trying to play. Crashed to the desktop 4 or 5 times in a row and gave up. Still standing there, I guess. Will probably log in to a ghost.

I didnt have a chance to attend at this Event...needless to say, even if i attended i would have crashed several times as the CC isnt stable with more than 30 spellthrowers at a time....it never has been it never will be..
But i dont realy care for it, its like that...i am used to it....
But WHAT i care is some crazy one's at Mythic giving out this Scroll without thinking about the consequences...
It is OK you can get this kind of booster but you have to make sure everyone gets not only a 45 Minute chance to get it...
Since there is alot of complain about this yet, about 16 hours after this happend, i am pretty sure we will see this scroll as reward in the next weeks - if not i am pretty sure this kind of action will ruin parts of gameplay even more than other changes did yet.
It is NOT compareable to 99.7% of EM Items that drop because they are just deco or eye candy...
It is a scroll you can boost your stats with - and this has always been an advantage in gameplay - for me this is SERIOUS...
To all of you answering now about it has been posted and town criers yelled it out and blah blah blah...i played or play other games and EVENTS like that with DROPS like that last AT LEAST 1 week so everyone who has a real life and only time for aprox. 1-2 hours gametime a day (which is ALOT if you have a job, kids, LIFE..etc..) have a chance to get that item - it also will STOP this crazy prices asked from people who got one or more of this items (i dont DAMN this people - its totaly OK for me i am a merchant myself!) and it will STOP the inflation...we are heading DIRECTLY into a WOW desaster concerning GOLDPOINT - i dont think alot of people realized this yet (espacially at Mythic..)

Yes, the crash monster ran amuck, but that is normal for the large global event arcs, and that is coming from someone that counted 46 crashes {I gave up counting after that}. Exodus was a great looking boss and was challenging due to his special moves and teleporting abilities.
The event it's self based solely on the content of it A+ imo.
People holler about shards are dead, shards are empty all the time.... Well, you can't tell it when you look at the numbers of folks that showed for the Atl event last night. Oh wait.... lots of those shard hoppers were there. Ya know... maybe if it was not for those folks, and the ones that feel they have to hit every event on every shard.... then MAYBE the crash monster would not show up as much... Just a thought.

Yeah those who killed Exodus got this cool little scroll...it's a nice reward...it's nice deco...BUT you do realized that they put your NAME on it....maybe so they can keep track of who has used one.....so they can get the rest of ppl one too..or something similar....we have an Anny coming up, we have a global event arc due to conclude in the near future...we have had TONS of surprises and sneak peeks from Mesanna.....please don't rage over this....this is MESANNA we are talking about..she's gonna get everyone a +5 stat boost SOMEHOW I can feel it..and then the ppl that spend 100000000000000000$$$ of gold or hundreds of real life dollars getting one are gonna be kicking them selves cus you can only use it ONCE!
SO I would suggest NOT buying ANY of these scrolls...1. to keep the greedy not so nice people from fattening their pockets...and 2. to save yourself heartache later on down the line cus if you DO buy one and you get one for FREE later on you're gonna feel pretty >.<
