Their history on dupes has been to let em run forever before takin any action, has to be something other than that.

Sorry all.
I figured out a duped. I turned in after I used it.
If you mixed the phermone in an empty pot of eggnog while invised, you could dupe any item you drop into your animals back pack.
I now have 6,000 checks worth 0 gold a piece. I thought it was 1 million godl check I was duping but it was a stupid 0 gold vendor check. My loss.

They didn't say why they were taking them down, so perhaps it is some major bug, the sort that can do a ton of damage. So assuming it is that sort of bug, would you want to wait and potentially suffer from it?
Players can't have it both ways, complaining when they get screwed over by a bug but then whining when EA publishes like this.
Oh, that's the one where ya face west while polymorphed to do it, right?

You're right. And therein lies quite a bit of my problem with Mythic lately...
If it's a dupe, let us play till server up, how many people could possibly already know about it? I've never personally been damaged by someone duping, it just doesnt affect me, nor most of those I play with. So you run out and make 1000 crimmys, doesnt affect gameplay any, unless you're one of the few selling for 18mil on a vendor...
If its a major bug, then ya gotta ask, Where is QA? nm, sorry I asked.
Highly doubt that it is for the slimes. That could be easily slipped in on next server downtime. The only thing I can think of is it is to fix an issue (code word for exploit or serious bug) and they don't want us to know about it until it is fixed. Standard procedure for fixing expoits.

I hope they're fixing gate. It's a real PITA on Siege.
So those 1000 of crimmys are out there and some innocent person buys them on a vendor. Then the next morning, all those dupes are deleted and the innocent person is out their gold. That right there is reason enough.

And no one has been actioned for having *one* dupe in their possession, regardless of what was said in the last mass bannings.

In the past they've explained afterwards why they implemented these emergency patches. It made perfect sense why they waited as well. So why not have some patience? If they fail to explain afterwards, then you'll have a valid point. Right now, however....

If they are dropping all the shards for two hours... it is to fix something. This is a far cry from releasing something and then waiting several weeks/years to fix it.
The devs did a great job on this publish with really a little amount of time testing... sheesh... they are trying and coming up with some neat ideas... This is the one thing I enjoy about this game... Never finished, always a work in progress...

I do for one appreciate the communication that is being given to us by the Dev's and company. Yeah servers are down for a few hours but that's better than the other night when login died for seven hours and there wasn't a soul to be found but my point is:
"We're aware of the issues and we are working on them" and then "We bringing down the servers to to fix known issues and servers will be back up" in approximately 2 hours is pretty much exactly what I want to here.
So thank you and props to the Dev Team for communicating to the players what's going on. We the 'players' love the game and want to be in the know how.

I agree, if there is a problem, its good they picked up on it and are fixing it.

The message that they put out on the shards, was that the shard was going down for a "Publish"

Well your into the details and I agree it would be nice. Sounds to me like you need to get on their payroll as you have a keen interest in the intricate details.

yeah.....KR snow would be great.
I think its just to fix the bugs that the bug fix from last patch created while trying to fix the bugs from the previous bug fix from a patch full of bugs that was created with the intent to fix the latency problems that have occured due to too many bugs.
It did however inspire the creators to create the solen hive at some stage, they needed a place for the bugs to live.

It would be nice on TC9 which is mirroring Origin, if the devs would give us unlimited banking options. Kinda hard to add things to your bank box that is filled with your normal shard belongings. Can't even cash in the checks, yet they gave us the TC resources. My bank box now has 180 items. *sigh*
You can't dump items or are you like me and are a hardwired UO packrat?

I dumped all but the gold box, but I was actually going to test a few things using the give resources command. However, my box will be overflowing again once I do that.

Actually, he's not kidding...I found the same dupe early this morning as well, and reported it.....and as of patch, it's fixed.
Wasn't really a dupe, more a bug with stealing gold from your packy, and not being able to steal anything else.....it's fixed so no harm mentioning it.
