UO:Fan Fiction -- Heads Up!

As some of you may have speculated we will be engaging the community in more fan fiction.

In the past, it has not gone well when we asked for submissions. But it seems things go in cycles, we will make another attempt.

We will have another go in a very short time, and we will get you the specifics before the end of the month.

There are some restrictions on how we choose fiction, so that is seems objective more than subjective -- so please be patient as we move forward.

No. The Corpse thread is different, and I'll be doing others ... probably more "integrated" with the game. The only reason I did the Corpse thread here is because there is no longer and "Off Topic" area ... I asked permission to post in UHall first btw

Thanks Cal! Yeah I was looking for a place to put guild stories and such. I guess the closest thing I have found is the White Stag Inn section, but I am uncertain but I am sure Petra would be happy to shed more light.

As stated in another thread, simply have Ra'Dian Fl'Gith or Warder Dragon on hand to consult with writing and storylines and you should be peachy, Cal.

Well ... as representing the UHall shard ... yeah
BUT
As far as writing originality and flow and such ...
Each shard has different other "dungeon masters" ... that by habit and oath
will never post >here< in uhell (they been here, done that and understandably ain't coming back)

in simple words Cal ... each shard should have a posting calling for "writers"

If ya want to represent acquire >the best of UO< ... gotta have the wide beams on.

still gonna have to assume "authorship" responsibilities

You know, I actually agree with this.

Many years ago there was a fan fiction section on UO.com, the precursor to the Herald. If not a fan fiction section per se than a section that oft-incorporated fan fiction.

Even though I didn't read the stories every week (or was it every month?) I thought it was neat that they posted them.

In fact I still remember two to this day, one was about an evil guild hiring mercenaries to help them in the Dungeon Doom, then leaving the mercenaries behind to die. Another was about a tamer and his (her? I forget) nightmare fighting dread spiders in Terathan Keep.

I don't know why that was stopped; perhaps resentment from some folks who weren't picked.

I of all people can understand resentment, it's one of the over-riding facts of my life, but still, it's a shame when resentment gets in the way of something cool. And that was a cool section.

I should be glad if fan fiction rides again on the Herald as it once did on UO.com, whether my own is ever picked or not.
