UO East Coast Connections - Broken again - UO Unplayable

If you did something to Fert08 -- it was appreciated.

Connecting to the East Coast servers has been MUCH improved today. Right now averaging 41ping compared to average of 200 all day yesterday.

Things are back to normal for the moment.

If the Dev's did anything here to address this - thanks & don't change anything back! LOL

*** EDIT : Well, it is changed back and pings are 300 again to Great Lakes and west coast shards are normal. Note tracerts posted below. I'm going to post my crappy trace every hour until someone from EA responds saying they are looking at their network or working with their provider because UO IS UNPLAYABLE at these speeds.

Nope, its borked again today.

Whatever they did in the server farm today has messed it up again.

At noon CST pinging 300+ to Great Lakes and 70 to Sonoma.

This is after 3 days of solid 40ish pings to GL.

Weird I am on east coast and have no problems, you should check your on connection I think....

If my connection were the issue - then why is Sonoma (across the country) no slower than normal and why am I speeding around Sonoma 3x as fast as Great Lakes. GL is the closest server to me.

Some people on the east coast go through Fert07 and some go through Fert08. I trace through fert08 and today it is slow as hell. Last 3 days have been just fine.

My connection? 18.7mbps upload/2.7mbps download currently (just tested)

It is not my connection.

Ok, don't take my word for it - how about pings from servers around the world?

just-ping.com

Note how the Chicago Server to GL is 100+. Chicago to Sonoma is 50ish.
Now note how SF Server to GL is 160+ and SF to Sonoma is 2ms.

If it is a Level3/hosting problem - I'd suggest EA find a new host. This is happening one hop before their server so it is not my IP but theirs.

Looks like Symantec Labs is using part of this network. LMAO see Norton DOES slow everything down!!! J/K I couldn't resist make wise crack about Norton.

Hmm I continued to google and read seems Level3 has some network problems .... Obviously we need to get ahold of someone at Level3.

Good luck doing it, my dad had to fight with them to get a phone number to talk someone about his retirement insurance. (Level3 bought WCG).

Please note the difference in the last two tracert's

Jirel's goes through Fert07 (inside EA"s network) and us with the problem go through Fert08 (both have the same subnet as the actual server so they are EA servers.

If you are lucky enough to go through 07 - no problems. If you go through 08 then you are stuck in lag hell. So those of you who think 'there is no problem' are not going through 08.

I go through 08.

So, we've been crying about this for months now. And I'm amazed there's been no official acknowledgement or response. They haven't even said "Sorry, out of our control". Man, this has been so depressing.

I'm really starting to miss playing on my shard, and pvping, and being able to be fast on the xheals in hunts and in fel. I guess this wouldn't be so bad if I could stay up all night.

Are we all sending in error reports?
