UO Assist update patch

Just wondering the older download versions of ultima online seems not to be working with assist, while the new one's seem to work what you download from uo.com. The newest one will say (patch unknown) mine is 66 and works fine after loading twice for assist to read the game. That is the only difference I have seen from around 15 or so people on working and not working that isn't op systems.
Only one person I found with patch 66 not working but she didn't want to mess with it tonight. (ie restarting assist and game a few times)
Not saying it will work or not though but if you redownload assist from uo.com make sure u save your macro's for your charaters.

I thought they fixed it a long time ago where you couldn't play without the current patch (because people were avoiding new patches in order to have certain cheats work).
I didn't even know it was possible to log on without the most current patch, so I have no idea how to help.

Tried re downloading UOA & nothing, started the game up 5 times nothing. As far as re downloading the game, not going to, it was redone back about a yr ago. None of us should have to re download a game to make something that worked fine before work again.

As of 1am EST just received another UOA update, UOAssist.exe went from 1.8.1.0 to 1.8.2.0 & the .dll also went up a ver#

Each client has the current version, each patch is the same also, but I think patch repisents how many patches your game has had since it has been installed on your computer. I'm not a computer wiz but seems if it is the case something has changed or a old file not removed or something from the newer downloads and installs. As I said I could be completely wrong about this but this just what I been finding as the only difference in anything. Besides the op systems but those seem to varie to much as working and not working. If you redownload as I said, save your macro's and do an unstall and go delete the folders yourself to make sure it is completely gone then download. But if it isn't the case I'm sorry if I am misleading anyone and wasted your time. Just sharing what I have seen so far. Uo assist might come out with fix also soon.

hadn't tried in a couple hours hours, just did a few ago, got looked like 2 uoa updates, but no difference.

I've just completed testing the latest 1.8.2.0 UOAssist.exe / 1.22.2.0 UOAssist.dll on my Windows 7 64-bit configuration with my registry reverted back to normal and all 3 of the configurable methods in the UOAssist settings are working properly and bringing up the patcher then the client and UOAssist.

So from my perspective, Tug's now fixed it and well done to him.

I found what I think is that problem and corrected it, try the latest update (restart UOAssist).

I completly closed out of UO, reopened as admin on UOA (set to default anyways) and it WORKS!

My UOA worked with XP SP3 - ONCE (but through a dozen character switches) after the fix - I closed out of UO, restarted, and it doesn't work now. This is getting weird.

Tested - it works after reboot, then if you leave UO/UOAssist, it stops working. Worse, with the second attempt after boot of trying to use UOA, it doesn't shut down when you close UO, remaining in the background and preventing restart of UOA (it actually shuts down the first time, otherwise you couldn't try to restart it), not that the restart will do anything.

So, effectively, with the current iteration of the UO Assist "fix", if you leave UO after the first starting of the software, you have to reboot to go back in with UOA (.

All I can say is it is not working for XP with SP3, my Win 7 laptop works fine (not sure on Vista, it's at home) but my main computer I use for UO is on XP Pro & it's now borked. Earlier today before the last 3 patches it worked fine, but since then it won't stay up once the patcher is done. So, if this be the case & the updates are all done & it can't be rectified to work correctly.... Fill in the blank.


Update 2:30am EST: Ok something is terrible odd. Tried to get UO to run numerous times w/UOA after last patch to 1.8.2. & it would not run, even after numerous complete closings of the game & restarting. I just tried it again & now UOA runs ??? Same 1.8.2. etc & all. Something is seriously odd here. Not one change since the last trying & it works ?? Weird

Yay, all fine here again aswell. Just got another patch from UOA with 2 files again. UOA loads and the aero-loook of windows stays.

I'm one of the few that didn't have problems. I have UAC disabled.

I think UAC is blocking a registry change made by the UOAssist patch, the very same one everyone is manually changing. Those entries do not exist for me.

Instead of ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online\1.0

...followed by the entries you guys are seeing.

There are no values set for any entry.

Cool, then im not crazy lol. I dont have those registry entries after I uninstalled uo & uoassist and installed both again. Everything is working ok but i wanted to skip the uopatch screen so i added the Key Origin Worlds Online then added Ultima Online and 1.0 and now after a few tries I can see these 3 string values (HarvestStageNew, LastHarvestTIme & UniqueInstanceId) that something (uoassist?) added.
I couldnt skip the uopatch screen, ill try tomorrow.

ps: UAC disabled for me too

on a XP sp3 box:

I just uninstalled uo+uoassist then installed both again. It's working, i dont have any registry info for ExePath, PatchExePath or even 'Origin Worlds Online'.

What i would like to do is, when I click on UOAssist icon to skip the uopatch screen and just open the client.exe AND uoassist at the same time. Reason is, i always prefer to NOT patch my client if i dont need to for a couple days because 50% of the time the patchs broke something that was working smoothly.
Any idea on how to skip the UOPatch screen?

With Tug's latest patch we're now fully working on both Terry's XP machine and my Win 7 32-bit. I haven't been near either pc's registry files.

Well had me uoa running after uninstalling and reinstalling, BUT................... i close down uo to do a reboot of pc after an xp update log back in no uoa, now seems to only work if i uninstall and reinstall.
i click on the uoa icon and get an error message :

windows cannot find C:/documents and settings /owner/desktop/uoassist.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search for a file, click start button and then click search.

I have tried the 3 diff load ups in uoa under settings and it aint working, now its getting real annoying having to unistall and reinstall everytime i wish to play uo..

Im at a total loss on how to fix this.

Check the properties button on the UOA icon & click find get & see where the uoassist.exe is looking, it could possibly be looking in a wrong area. On XP it should show you the whole folder where it is. You should see the Download Folder, UOAssist.exe, UOA-Settings folder , UOAssist.dll & UpdateAce.dll I know my UOA is not located in my documents, the program & etc is located in Program Files folder.

I am using XP, i click uoa it does a download i click continue, uo patcher comes up does its thing i click ok game login in appears no uoa

Edit to say that i restarted my PC and now assist works well.
After the black screen of the patch i click "play" and start both UO and assist.

STILL BROKEN Here - XP Pro (ver 2002) SP3 (32bit)
I got the (latest) patch(s) late nite, didn't do anything for me

I usually 'Stand By' rather than shut dn because of a funky Dell usb keybrd driver. Thought I'd do a reboot, for grins:

and this was partially mentioned before, by a Mod i think... that uoa is not closing correctly
If I do a Cold Boot, UOA works until I close the client, then broken - it does not show in task manager. It will say UOAssist is already running - while that pop-up is onscreen, it shows in taskman until clicked closed, but it's still there, somewhere, because it'll do that until the next cold boot.
Log off box or warm boot changes nothing. I've done the cold boot now 3 times, worked each time, until i close the client, either by X the box, or killing process tree in taskman. I've tried no other remedies, I use Tug's pushed patches only. Least it works some...

I never did get the UOA patch yesterday because I was logged on and did not log out, UOA worked all day long for me. This morning I got both patches. UOA does start and run fine along with the client however...

All my UOA macros are now gone? I can create a new UOA macro and it will work, but all the old ones got wiped somehow. Win 7 64.

On my laptop using Vista, I downloaded the client today for the first time. Logged in. No problems.

Then downloaded uoassist. Got the main uo screen, but no uoassist. Tried to open uoassist again, but computer said is was already running. Opened task manager and saw uoassist running in my "processes" section. Ended process. Tried uoassist again, and it showed up. Logged in, and uoassist is working fine.

Yeah, this is happening all the time with me and a few friends as well. It seems when you close out UO that UOA does not close out on it's own since the last patch.

For Win7 users here are all the applications you need to individually set to run as admin:

In "C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Classic"

...

The main thing that is causing you problems is that you installed self-updating programs under C:\Program Files

I NEVER install UO or any other self-updating program in that directory (it is protected by Windows)

I usually install UO in either C:\Games or C:\UO, and I never have to run anything as Admin.

Oh I am happy. My UoA is working again. The person in charge is fast to respond to e-mail. Has a fix quickly. I am amazed. I want to thank UOA for fixing the problem so quickly and great customer service skills. I want to thank all the people that posted. The problem can be resolved by this...
Try looking in C:\Users\<Your user name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\UOAssist

If you have a folder under that called UOA-Settings you can copy it to
c:\program files (x86)\uoassist

Do this while UOAssist is not running and if you aren't running a 64 bit version of windows remove the (x86) from the path
