UO Assist and its server/webpage down?

For the update method, I was thinking more of the 3 "Load UOA Using" methods. Not sure if this has any impact.

Good point on DNSFlush though, I was thinking about some browsers doing their own DNS caching. But flushing wouldn't have done anything in that or this case. And your ping tests showing you were reaching home definitely confirms it.

A netstat on my system shows that UOA is accessing a few non icmp or http ports though.

In any case, I've sent Tug an email. Let's see how quickly he responds.
I use the "newest" method. What differences there are between the three, I couldn't tell you. UOA may not need to use specific ports locally, but did you see if it's trying to reach any other IPs? I haven't.

If Tug is so inclined, it would be a big favor if he did one last update that removes the self-disabling. As I said, I don't understand the purpose for that.

I don't know why Tug ever programmed it to disable itself after 10 failures.
If it wasn't there all a person would have to do is cut the connection to their internet until after it checks for a valid key. After that they could use as normal. In other words tug was smarter than many many many software designers.

That should be unnecessary since the keys are stored locally (in the registry). UOA doesn't (and can't anyway) check for a valid key until an account is logged into.

That's a simple work around. The key for the program just has to meet certain parameters. Hackers create programs called Keygens that create keys that are acceptable to the program, however would be immediately found to be a fake by the online check.

Ah, that's true. Yes, I'm familiar with key generators, and now I remember Tug's warning that if you're caught, there's an additional charge to reactivate UOA. He didn't exactly use large prime factorization or anything else to generate unreproducible keys. Even so, for that and the current connection problems, there's someone counter reset that I linked to above. I haven't tried it myself and haven't heard if anyone has.

Hrmm, I've had the message once last night, but seems to be working fine for me now, however, the Dress Macro seems to be taking twice as long for each item to equip, and it frequently stops in the middle of dressing. It's almost faster to dress without UOAssist, except for the few smaller-harder-to-find items.

I've been having that since the "cloud" migration. It's been almost 14 months now, hasn't it? It's when something about UOA started making the first character login very slow. It's several seconds before I see the character, and the play window is thrown into the far upper left of a restored window (normally I have it centered very precisely in a maximized window). If I log out of a character but don't exit the game, all characters afterward are fine.

Hmm, mine has been messed up for about 2 months now, I wanna say it was the publish before the vendor search went to TC1

When I checked, all connections were to the same IP too.

Try using a Yahoo or Gmail mail account. If IPs from your country is blocked, the IP of the mail servers in your country will also be blocked from sending mails to Tugsoft.

Thanks for the message.

I am switching to another ISP in the next day or two. That should fix the problem. Sorry for the trouble.

Many thanks to Tugsoft for the years of continued reliable operation of UO Assist.

Ironically last night I was unable to connect to the update server myself. (I only logged in the once so I only have one sample to try.) Wouldn't it be ironic if I happened to be the one to log in while he was making whatever change he was making to improve Asian access? *chuckles* Glad for it, either way.
