There has to be more, help me out.

Personally, I think it's getting pretty ridiculous. Why are they arbitrarily adding these items to the game? I just don't get it.

Someone should try to make a PvP char that just uses items and doesn't use any skill at all.

fish. the rare, extraordinary, valued, etc. they give you a +1 boost in stats. yay.

so, what's the major problem here? all games have consumables. why would break the tradition of having way too many of something? that's what UO does... more... way more... often too much more... but it gives us something to complain about.

I don't see how someone can complain about potions which have been in the game since day 1, of which makes up nearly half your list.

One thing that we haven't seen more of lately are "adventure triggering" consumables like the treasure map, fishing nets, BODs and gargoyle pickaxes. I think that the devs should investigate options here, because these will also create demand in people who want a different kind of experience.

eg:
1) a system of small boss-summoning sites with single-use horns for each site that simply summon the boss. Find the horns scattered around other systems as an uncommon/rare and it gives you a swoop-level encounter (no need for special loot, just a good risk-reward payoff).
2) one-use tools (craft a random runic-level item, but with a random uncommon ingredient list and a random list of skill requirements, can only be used one of a few forges in remote locations)

Back in the days there werent any Enhanced Pot bullcrap neither. Potion itself isnt skill, its ITEMS. And even worse now they have items to make other items better. All these are reflecting how items based UO is nowdays.

And......what? Of course alchemy has a lot of consumables! What do you think your suppose to do with a potion? lol. Same goes with food. If you decreased the consumables with potions, what on earth do you expect an alchemist to make. And the confusion pot only works in PvM. The invis pot requires you to stay completely still after you drink it for it to work.

Personally I welcome more items. Only because to keep this game going more needs to come in. However they need to add in carefully.

Nothing is wrong with the items they are adding in. Cool down effect will most likely kill that item for a PvPers or tone it down so much it will rarely be used.

Yes all of these options are terrible. We should have 3 consumables... MAX.

20. Archer (3 macros?)
21. Tamer (all kill)
These both fulfill your request of a pvp character that doesn't take skill, and your last two items on your list! *Items: UBER Xbow for chain conc, Super dragon for....you get the idea*

Grapes?

Everything they add creates more options

Causes one to think of newer/better tactics

Adds variety

...

If these cannot be insured and if consumables are so all-important in PvP, wouldn't that make it a good reason to have a thief in PvP nowadays?

We've always had consumables (reagents, potions, bandages, etc)

I think we need more consumables. They add dynamics to the game environment and can be introduced to create counters to game mechanics that are unbalanced. They also give vendors something to sell that continues to have a market.

I think a lot of the recent changes to add cooldown timers to consumables have done a lot to keep consumables in check.

I would like to see consumables that require rare ingredients to make. If you have rare ingredients, you have rare consumables and also something worth stealing. Another thing I like about rare consumables conceptually is that you can't use them flippantly like players use potions.

Every time something cheap and lame, not to mention clearly badly implemented, is the subject of a thread such as this... we get the usual lines from some people that "It adds variety.".. Just like the ability to create gimplates..

Too much variety and you're out of focus with what you want your game to be.. That ALONE should suffice as a reason to take a good look at how combat works in UO and change it. But it's not just that...

Timers right now are next to nothing because in UO there is no engaging someone in battle. You both just run around until you're fully healed or re-arm a weapon or whatever.

The whole system is immensely problematic- unless you belong to the group of people who enjoy taking advantage of those problems.

Consumables are 10% of the issue and fixing them before completely re-working combat will only lead to further complications and unbalances.

When I first tried WoW I was amazed at how many little thingies, gadgets, trinkets and potions you had to carry with you.
Now look at UO... :loser:

Cept WoW comsumables usually have a much more reasonable cooldowns compare to UO.

IMO all these new chugger's toys will seem to be OK. But lets throw in EP. An ITEM mod that can improve ITEMS effect, up to 50%. IMO 10-second cooldown on a gheal pot that heals for max of 35 (0 ep) is OK and has been ok since the first day of UO but now the same 10-sec cooldown on a gheal pot thats capable healing max of 50 hp at zero player skill and zero skill point requirement is broken. but hey, people that relies solely on 50EP in order to compete will give out that famous comment "EVERYONE CAN GET IT AND USE IT". Oh how I remember these comments when WoD AI instant kill bullcrap were around. All the WoD AI archers saying "EVERYONE CAN GET IT AND USE IT" same for the old 5/6 casting mage era, same for the nerve strike instant kill dexers "EVERYONE CAN GET IT AND USE IT".

Oh well I guess adapt is a really big part of UO now. It wont be long before we get new comsumables like "Blessed Tboxes(unlimited charges 3dmg max no cooldown)" or "120 Resist pot(effect last 7.5 minutes 10min w/max ep cooldown 10minutes" or "Full Life Pot (10-sec cooldown)".

More variety, more fun, much better game, will help UO in gaining more subscribers. I will try to be happy... and adapt.

In my eyes no mana potion which kind ever, has nothing to do in UO! Mana you get with regeneration, Meditation and Focus. I am as a dexxer of the opinion that we have to much mana these days, it makes much more fun if you have really think about what you do instead of spaming special moves or spells out.

I think the slove is not creating items which destroying other special moves for example enhanced appels, it is better to balance special moves, that you cant spam them out like hell.

They should have made skill required for a bola long ago. Other than that, this thread has no merit.

I am a chugging dexer and i have to say i dont use but the main pots that have been in uo since the beginning and they have always had a role in pvp.
Now with that said I would like to say that instead of complaining about this we should complain about the hacks. Like Speed hack stump hacks and timer hacks for spells. Back in the day you could get banned for useing UOA. I pvp on a regular basis and im sick of all the hacks and noone doing anything about it. Thats what we should be Focused on Not consumables Thank you

Do people honestly think new players will be attracted in by hearing they added more consumables?

That's a little bit out there, IMHO.

Adding, and adding, and adding more and more useful things (which then become utter requisites for playing competently at the upper ends) discourages and excludes newer players, it doesn't excite and attract them. When I see a 30,000 keg of potion I don't think "WOW! ONE DAY I MAY HAVE TO BUY THOSE REGULARLY!"

It might not be a bad idea to go WOW's route.... to drink an exceptional or enhanced potion, you'd need x alchemy skill.
