United Pirates Announce, December Black Market

It is time for another one of our monthly trading events! Again, merchants and pirates will sell a lot of valuable contraband.

The Black Market

During this monthly recurring event, everyone can sell, buy or trade your wares! The facts:

Merchants can claim a personal market stand where they can advertise and sell their products. The merchants should enter the list of their products into the book locked down on their market stand (at least one day prior to the event, so people can come by and check on the items). Bargaining is encouraged!

If you want to sell contraband, you can simply come to the Black Market building prior to the event and enter your name and your item list into one of the (empty) books on the market stands. By doing that you have claimed the market stand and may use it exclusively during the event. The Black Market building is located next to our Jolly Roger Inn in TRAMMEL.

This event will take place Saturday, December 5 at 8:00 PM EST

Can we bug the EM and have a gate from New Haven to the Jolly Roger Inn?

Unfortunately, EMs are not allowed to make gates to player-run events (favoritism!). So, a gate service would be very much appreciated.

We also need vendors to sell things, so if you know any, spread the word.

Well, the EM could always spawn a Whale at the Bay and put up a gate up for the people to see... "Free Willy"...

Now seriously... this is the only shard wide vendor day... promoting community and interaction.

A gate isn't favoritism... it is common sense.

I'll be gating from Haven and bugging people... I might even sell some SoTs.

To the Catskills EMs:

Thanks very much for your support! The named gate was very effective. The Black Market was visited by more people than ever before! And once a lot of players come together, new activities will evolve from this.

One of the biggest problems with player-run events is, getting the players who do not read Stratics (and that's the majority) to notice and visit them. A temporary public gate in New Haven and/or Britain with the event name on it is a great thing. I hope we will see such gates in the future for big player-run events.

(I wish that also town criers could be used for such purpose, but to my knowledge even the game developers have problems updating their messages. I think it would be great if the UO Devs would create an interface which allows EMs to modify town crier messages.)
