A long time ago at a Seer event a Gamemaster forgot to lock down a few items, including a working moongate. The moongate works from a container but I would advise against carrying it with you for quick escapes because that would get it taken away. It is only animated when sitting on the ground.

It would be suicide to do so, imo (if one showed up).

That said, it is tempting to bid. However, I fear it will just go to someone to whom gold means nothing because he or she has a truly 'endless' supply of it.

It would be difficult for those of us who earn gold the hard way to justify it considering the risk.

Just recently I have taken some hard knocks in the rares sector (comment not related to this item, just saying).

At least we know how much a moongate is worth now, if anyone actually has one.

Two interseting things come to light with this post. 1st rare collectors actually have a sence of humor. Second seeing Draconi make a reactionary post on this, shows that he is indeed reading the rares forum's which is nice to see. Hopefully will get some action taken against those who have created duplicate rares via exploits that have been recently mention on this forum.

In case anyone is wondering, if you place your moongate in the same container as rainbow cloth it will spawn thousands of rainbows spawn throughout the land. But the shard will crash because there is no rainbow graphic, so don't do that.

I don't know this from personal experience, the person who owned the rainbow cloth before me said it.

EDIT i cant find any softwear about that could morph a gate and that house to look the same, if its fake you have some serious software we dont have online yet..................

It would be easy to do with a UO Emulator. But the detail in the shot, such as the stuffy, make it hard to believe that anyone would be that detail-oriented to recreate something given out on EA shards as a gift. Interesting. If it is a faked shot, props!

I picked up the black moongate at the Mad Mage event on test last year ~~ scared the heck outta me, and then I couldn't put the damned thing down!!! stuck it in my backpack and logged out, went to UHall and confessed what I had done, before I got into any trouble

It was just a regular player casted moongate and I just added in the moongate menu. Nothing fancy.

With Draconi being the lead designer, and replying to the post, tells me that he obviously knows that item ID, and was probably doing an active search on all shards for it, hoax or not, for Draconi to come out tells me one thing and that is a great thing.

You could probably pull off the image without photoshop - here's how....

1. Find a house near one of the moongates (Yew, Brit, are best bets, especially a house placed that encroached on the guard zone)
2. have a conspirator with a character the same name as your character cast a moongate in the house.
3. enter gate, get menu, and walk toward the house. Get the cast gate as centered as possible, then drag the menu to cover your actual character where it stands outside the house, to obscure it.

As long as someone doesn't notice how off-center the picture is, it will work - and if you crop the picture to not show the top bar or edges of the screen, even that won't be an issue (plus you can have the two perps have different names, so long as the person in the house is in your alliance)

God its so easy, all you do is open 2 microsoft paints, printscreen and paste of you using a moongate on one paint and print screen of you casting a gate in your house on the other paint. Then just cut the moongate menu out and shove it on the screenshot of you casting the moongate, and voila. Dunno why everyone is making it out to be so complicated and going into pixels lol

i hate to reccommend other advice. if you have some highly illegal item and realize it is highly illegal, throw it in the trash barrel. Its like 'hey, I found a bag of crack, i'm calling the police, the police come see you and while they are there arrest you for an unpaid parking ticket. Or worse, arrest you because you have a bag of crack and someone miscommunicated about why they were coming to your house. Just flush it.

Would even be cooler if any vet account with one placed in there home would be able to take any town gate back to there house via there account being linked to the gate in there house.
