Unicorns will train to GM in their skills.

The low tactics won't gain unless you're fighting something with tactics at the same kinda level, so this is probably why you've had it stuck - unicorns need to start on really easy stuff to get their tactics out of the gutter lol. In your case, if you've got other skills finished off you want something which won't die in 1 hit, so I'd go train it on kirin or unicorn and that should get it gaining again.

Ideally you want to match your pet's skills to the creatures you train on, as too much difference can mean it's too hard or too easy for your pet to gain.

The advanced search in the hunter's guide here will let you specify skill levels and find suitable spawn for training on from there.

Hope that helps a bit :)

The tactics level of the animal you're fighting needs to be within 20 points of the tactics level of your unicorn to get any gains. If it is outside that window, tactics will not move. Go fight the zombies, skeles, and spellbinders in old haven until your tactics hit 50ish, then move outside the city to tangle with black bears, brown bears and grizzly bears. After that find the ettins and kill them for a bit. Once you're tactic hit 70ish you should be able to gain on a lot more things.

You can also go to any graveyard to get into the 50's, then I would hit the lizardman fort or the Nox Tereg swamps. Both are in Ilshenar and I believe sout or s/w of honor gate but don't quote me on that. You can also hit the red or black solens workers into the 60's and then hit the warriors into the 80's. Ogre Lords, Rotting Corpses, and Tsuki Wolves will take you to 100. There are many other things, I am just listing those that will make you some money while training. As Wenchkin said, use the Hunter's guide to find other things to fight.
