Undamaged Iron Beatle Scales

Tier 3 Thepem[sp?] quest, tier 3 details seem sketchy, after clearing out the iron Beatles I've not been able to locate any scales, any ideas?

I have gotten 3 from iron beetles did not have to cut them they where there on the corpse. Note this was before the patch, I play Baja
