UNATTENDED MACROER LUNA OCEANIA

It is now 12:20 AM PST in USA, we have been reporting the same scripter standing at Luna Bank scripting "188" and playing a tambourine.

All responses that we have gotten from GM's is that it will take us some time to investigate and we will not tell you the outcome of this.

We reported over 30 minutes ago, the same guy standing here and OBVIOUSLY AND BLATENTLY SCRIPTING.

And we get no response from a GM?

What is going on?

Where are all the GM's?

Why hasn't one appeared and BANNED THIS GUY IMMEDIATELY?!

We have been standing here asking him questions, and asking him to move, and NOBODY HAS SHOWED UP TO INVESTIGATE OR TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON!

That was on chessy. Over two hours he was repeating the same thing over and over and a gm never showed up. Several people paged on him but it didn't do any good. He finally came back and the people there told him they paged a gm on him and he just laughed.

To save you and any others the trouble...there are no UO GMs any more. There are a couple of 'customer service reps' that cover a bunch of EA games who you might be very lucky to engage if you happen to catch them during their working hours which definately do not include the weekends.

Came and checked it out, and if I remember correctly, the guy was spelling something like "JUNK" with his script/macro.

I guess this is what we have been reduced to, oh, lets go delete a bunch of accounts because they were duping or in posession thereof, but when someone LIVE reports someone that is SCRIPTING or MACROING UNATTENDED that has been clearly stated OVER AND OVER AGAIN that it is against the TOS...

So a guy....who takes a couple hours to train some skill....who doesn't want to talk to you is a scripter???

You realize...that when you page on a scripter, a GM doesnt just show up. Nor do they usually talk to YOU. The put the person in question into a GM chat, or they show up invisible to watch the person without them knowing.

Either way, you will NOT hear their discussions. And this is nothing but a witch hunt.

Same thing happened to me....sitting in luna training a skill. I dont feel like talking, but every 10 minutes a GM chat appears from people paging on me. Every time I answer them. This is the same situation.......

I do not play that shard but if i did I would not spend hours agonising over someone gaining a bit of musicianship afk. I heartily recommend either turning on your bard filter in UOA or else just turn the speakers off (if no uoa on system)

But here is why I will train my skills in Luna:

I have gold...lots of gold. I like to buy stuff, thus I sit in Luna often.

I also like to talk to friends not in my guild...or ones I dont have on ICQ. Where do they hang out?...yep Luna

Doing my skills in Luna with lots of people around, is alot more fun and is a little less boring than being all alone in my house. Besides why should I hide in my house just to work a skill??? Why dont YOU leave the area if it bugs you so much?

perhaps you recall a while back when I and a few others across the shards were paging daily on the same bloodwood darkwood soul seeker dexxer scripting gold in painted caves for eons. Same response from page every time, and I made it a habit to page daily while I was in there training dragons. "we will not tell you what is going on ever about this situation, you will have no idea anyone heard you.' is the response in a nutshell. Once I was done with painted caves for the time being she was still there doing it after a couple weeks. It was funny I guess to stand in the same cubbyhole killing all the trogs before they aggroed her while her character would stand in place throwing eoo out every 2 minutes and not moving for 15 minutes, run out, recall out and back, and run back to same place and stand there doing the same thing. I guess it could have been a real person playing, I know I often go stand in a dungeon and cast eoo on a time table and don't move, leave and come back and do it again without ever fighting anything.

the point here is the 'we won't tell you anything about what we find out' and the scripter still standing there or doing whatever script hours later every day makes you wonder if you were wrong, or if they ever even looked, and causes paranoia and shooting at ghosts, but when 10th anni arties were new I had a gm pop in and question me about whether or not I was there after standing in the same room for ten minutes. I surmise it is also possible the scripts they use can recognize a gm and spit out an answer. I don't know.

On top of the reasons Lord Deimos offered in his last post, I do my training in Luna because I don't really feel like wasting the time to transport upwards of 300k wood from the bank to my house after I get done collecting it all in Fel Delucia.

Question for you though...how do you know he is macroing and/or unattended? Just because he won't speak to any of you who are harassing him? I usually don't sit there talking to every avatar that comes up to me or on the screen when I'm training either, being that I am using my time and attention to training. Have had this happen a couple of times now on Atlantic in the last week myself, even though no one even bothered to come up and ask if I was attended or not, just went straight to the page button.

The number of times I've been accused of cheating stager my mind.

I was once training lockpicking, at the Satyr. It wandered into the desert area, and I duly followed.
A changeling targetted me, and I died.
Apparently, the fact that I made no effort to run was proof enough that I was a cheater.

Whenever I'm training parrying on sheep, or other animals, some busybody always comes to take a look.
Sometimes they say "hi", other times, they just sit there watching me.
I don't talk to them, any more.
For one thing, they wouldn't try talking to me if they didn't suspect me of cheating, so that's just rude.
For another thing, most of the time, you respond to them and they just leave. Which is also rude.

Basically, I take less crap from cheaters, than I do from the vigilantes.
It's all backwards, but there you go.

If he was indeed spouting 188 or something while working a skill, it was indeed a script that had more than likely gone haywire..

But i was actualy sitting there watching the screen..... i got put in the room in bucs den Inn with all the moongates and a gm asked me to respond... I did... We had a nice conversation about peopel calling gms for petty things....

Put this in perspective of the amount of damage a Luna skill scripter is doing.
Scripting a skill = low damage
Scripting away a murder count = low damage. (Better to just set show names on and don’t script anything for this one anyway)

The real damage to the game comes from resource scriptures and minor arty scripter.

Resource scripter = very bad. These people keep honest players who want to run crafters and resource gathers down.
Minor arty scripter = minor damage. They are currently doing this for spring cleaning points. Drives the price of rewards down. Good for buyers, bad for honest sellers.

So if you want to harass and catch the scripter, the best folks to hit are the resource gatherers. Oddly, and fortunately, most of them operate in Felucca where the majority of actions you take against them are legal.

Go to Felucca Cove or Britain guard zones and watch the mine bots recall in and mine. Start dropping stuff to block the recall locations.
If you find spots they are mining outside of a guard zone, kill them.

For wood, this is a bit trickier since they chop all over, but the good news is that if you find one, they will likely be in a non guard zone and legal to kill on sight.

My advice for you is going after the real culprits, the Felucca bot miners.
Killing and harassing Felucca bot miners is fun to do, and you will not be banned for over using the GM page by paging on some guy in Luna who is simply training up his music or peace while reading a book, and has been responding to the GM prompts.

The GM’s do exist, and do respond.
I have Legendary, or GM’ed skilled many skills in Luna, (Hiding, Stealth, Music, Peace, EvalInt, etc.) and responded several times to GM’s putting the little gold button in the top left of my screen…as long as I click and respond (remove the heavy object from my keyboard and respond to their questions), they will take no action on my account, and will never tell you what happened…meaning your frustrating yourself for nothing.

Listen everbody, I was trying to make a few points here and actually have an experience in regards to the GM and help system.

It was obvious that he was scripting since he was spitting out the same "188" while beating away on the tambourine. No one else in Luna and we asked was playing an instrument. Luna Bank on Oceania usually has about 3 people in it at that time. Him being one.

This went on for an hour, we tried to talk to him, no response. We paged, not just me but a couple of other people to.

The thing for me here is that, there seems to be little or no GM contact at all anymore. I don't care about someone attended macroing and gaining skill. That's not the point.

The point is that when I see something like this, I usually let it go, but on this occasion, I decided to act on it because it reminded me exactly of the person on Chessy obviously scripting to place a house after an IDOC in Luna, which also got no response as far as I am aware of.

If people are allowed to go unchecked and get away with this behavior, where will they stop?

I have always been an honest player, have helped out newbies, done my fair share of contributing to my community on Oceania and this was just my litmus test of what kind of response to we really get from our support staff?

This experience has shown me there is no response from support staff other than canned responses, and that people who see they can get away with a little will probably move on to getting away with bigger things, since there is no or little action taken by GM's.

GM's do not enjoy being called in for that, thats a fact. Another fact People call them all the time for small things like that and many of the time the guy is there so it waste time for them. Hell ive being called gm on me many times that I make a game out of it I ignore the person and make it look like am not on and go on whith my business whithout being interrupted until a gm finaly shows up then we chat about the person that called on me usually saying how that guy stood around wasting his uo game time instead of playing but just standing waiting for so long. We laugh usually and the pager gets the can response and i go on whith my enjoyment until the next guy comes around to call the gm again. Most gms are so tired of it they just say are you there ok and leave as soon as possible sadly those we never get to chat long.

If i get the same one we try to mark down those who make a UO life out of paging and try to ignore them. You be surprise on how many people page for no reason at all just because they have nothing better to do or because someone has something they dont have. I feel sorry for GMs at times cause if anybody gets the most grief its them. There are right reasons to page a gm then there are wrong reason and then there are not so serious reasons. All am saying is enjoy youre game play make the most out of youre time and do what you like doing. Dont bother getting mixed up in politics or the game flaws and enjoy youre paying for the game enjoy what it got to offer.

Thats alot of stones but here's a question was it close to a forge? If it was it probably filled whith wood ingots cloth who knows what else. As a blacksmith ,tailor or anytype of crafter as well as miner lumberjacker etc you want to keep all youre resources in one box, Why? cause if youre making bods,deeds or repairing armor or anything else its much easier to go to that box as well as if youre mining lumber jacking you gonna want that box in the stairs so that you can drop of instead of making a longer trip into the house.

Lets also that gold,aga,verite,and val theres chance of failing a smelt so you want to slowly smelt it in the mean time you gonna just gather that over a year or so and smelt only when you need to. Not saying they weren't doing something else they shouldn't have but not all do.

I like siting outside whith my smelting or crafting and people come to me once in a while for repairs or to make them a suit it reminds me of the old days when smith stood by a blacksmith shop offering services for players, I enjoy to keep whith the tradition

I find it difficult to believe that there are well known scripters all over most shards, on whom there are dozens of pages every day of every week, and yet the GMs don't intervene.
But you are actually Attending the game and get wisked away to the buc den UM jail without warning?

I could take you on LS right now and tell you the names of the scripters and take you straight to them. In some cases I could even tell you what they will be wearing before we go.
You could come back and check every hour that LS is up for the rest of the month, and those scripters would still be there doing their thing.
There are people who make a point of going to their scripting spots just to get a page in at least once a day.

But they are still at it. Some of them are the same ones that were there doing the same things when I had to leave over 2 years ago, and were being paged on back then too.

EA just doesn't care. They only care if you are scripting skill gains since they aren't getting $20 for an advance char token, and even on that they rarely show.

I'm sorely tempted to put together a quick scripting program of my own, just to set up a mining-bot (that drops the ore in the trash at home) and invite everyone to page on him.
I would wager RL $ the character could run from server up to server down every day for the next month without ever being intefered with by a GM.

sounds to me by you counting the hours you have TONS of time on your hands. Move along and worry about your own chars and not someone else.That time wasted you could be crafting,sailing/fishing/killing stuff.Maybe he was Unattended macroing..I don;'t know why people are babies and feel the need to cry about petty **** now if he was duping or doing an exploit or causing harm to another player ie harrassment then sure.I'm not saying macroing unattended is fine,i'm saying don;t sweat the petty **** and worry about you and your gameplay.
