The whole notion of instead of fixing bugs, insisting players instead visit a Russian website and download Russian software (albeit open source) to resolve the bugs was

Wow you just make stuff up. Where is the announcement where they insisted you download that client. You were the only one telling players to do that.
They released publish after publish without any client updates/bug fixes which was a dog whistle for those who submitted bug reports to stop doing so and look elsewhere for a resolution.
They also made an announcement that they were ending their support for EJ accounts using third party clients which meant they were actively supporting paid accounts to do so.
And people like yourself would pretend there was no way for them to detect what client people were using. Which is obviously and now demonstrably not true and never was true.
Bearing in mind, the people who submitted bug reports for the official clients, were both voluntarily taking time out of their busy schedules to raise the reports and were also paying customers. And there are some listed bug reports that still after 6 years are still not fixed.

You call logging off and on to retrieve a pet you cant find, a Bug, even after they told you it was intended. So I am glad they did not fix things YOU call bugs.

They're talking about the recent changes to the game that left people unable to use the Orion client (@Captn Norrington change the name if It isn't allowed) for a while the people that used it could not login or stay logged in for more than a few seconds. It appears the makers of the client have possibly repaired the issue according to posts here and on the official forums.
The graphics in EC are really not horrible, and you can change how the paperdoll looks like to look like the CC, its a matter of getting used to the new look of things. EC has all the functionality and macros to make the game beutifully playable. No need for "illegal" clients. Works like a charm, it is really a new game with EC. It has been there for years, all the "bad look" of EC reputation has prevented many people from using it. I "discovered" EC with the pirate thing and have used it since. Just awesome. Give it a try. A little learning curve, thats all. My two bits. Comparing the two CC vs EC is like comparing Ford Model T, with the Tesla high tech EV imho. I get less signal loss also with it. If you play any kind of high intensity UO, try EC, but would make no difference if you mostly plye Deco UO.
That I agree with, mostly. A little sacrifice there. For me it was what to sacrifice, graphics mostly of pets vs functionality.
I LOVE the CC graphic style.

Hideous Graphics are something i'm willing to put up with for the functionality. and The Cu actually looks better in EC. In the CC it looks to be in a constant state of taking a poop.
Hear, hear! Sounds crazy but I love the choppy framerate as well, that's one of the aspects of using EC that makes me 'uncomfortable'. It's smooth, which would usually be a good thing but perhaps because the game is an isometric grid it doesn't sit the same way. Alternatively, it's strange imagining the grid of PC/NPC movement being transformed to a form of modern granular movement; it would sit better with the smooth movement of EC though.
Imagine putting items on the ground and it not conforming to the grid: house decorating would get a lot more interesting. Fun to think about.
