Un-Altering?

Hello just wondering if someone can help me out with this. I know things can be altered, but can they be changed back to human? I have bought an altered tangle for gargoyles, and i figured i could just use another tailor alter contract on it to change it back to normal, but i get " cannot alter this item with this type of alter contract? I hope it is possible to switch it back...
p.s i tried all the alter contracts none work... .....
