2D underwear, EC paperdolls and the mempo !!!
From here...True, though it really makes me wonder even more if they are indeed going to use things by NetDragon when they release a remade Ultima for Asia in 2011.
NetDragon's press releases always contain the following:
>>The Group's game portfolio comprises a range of massively multiplayer online games that cater to various types of players and gaming preferences. Current offerings include the games Way of the Five, Eudemons Online, Conquer Online, Zero Online, Heroes of Might & Magic Online, Disney Fantasy Online and Tian Yuan. The Group also has multiple games currently in development, including Dungeon Keeper Online, Doomsday, Cross Gate, Legend of the Dark and a new version of Ultima Online. <<
You know, I used the 3D client exclusively for several years. People would ask me why all the time. What was actually happening was that - because of my slow connection or what, I don't know; I never heard of it happening to anybody else - I would frequently get a glitch where the spell effects would slow right down to about a sixth of their normal speed, so every time someone cast a spell, all the floating coloured light would take about five seconds to fade away completely. Because of that, the effects would overlay with each other if spells were cast in quick succession. So just somebody scripting Heal spells at the bank would cause this amazing glitch, like the characters were wielding an aurora borealis. It was incredible.A good example is between me and my son, who played UO when the first 3D client came out.
I couldn't accept it because of the avatars and movement, along with a few MOB's art. But my son loved the spell effects, and ignore the avatars. When I asked him about them, he just said "yeah, they're ugly." But the effects had him thrilled, where they didn't overcome my objections.
I have to agree with Black Sun. He has the ugliest outfit of anyone in the game...hands down!My tamer's outfit.

(That circlet is a deer mask, apparently they fixed it in game but never bothered with character search.)
It's *supposed* to be ugly. The mempo is the ugliest thing in UO. I still can't bear to wear Leurocian's Mempo because of the ugly factor. The second ugliest thing are the crystal housing tiles.
Not necessarily....It's *supposed* to be ugly.
Same goes for tribal masks.
... allow me to rephrase more clearly. Not necessarily....
Mempo came in may styles from the Ryubu-bo which normally had a noble expression worked into it's design to the Ressei Men which normally displayed a savage violent expression. To say it's supposed to be ugly is a misconception drawn out thanks to Film industry.
As to Tribal masks, it really varied by culture, region, and useage. Some were hideous, other quite intricate in design, like this one for example
. Wouldn't quite call that ugly...
... allow me to rephrase more clearly.
The mask that was designed to look ugly is supposed to look ugly.
However, it doesn't follow that every mask in the world is designed to look ugly.
Which is why deer masks and bear masks also don't look ugly.
Ehn, think of it as 'a thread to give the UO artists something to do/ think about in their spare time'.Man, what a downer thread *sad face*
*welcomes you to UHall*Man, what a downer thread *sad face*
That'd be a fun thread! "What are your favourite monster designs?"I love Slasher in both 2d and EC. I keep wanting him to break out into some thriller dance moves though with the way his hands are raised. *grins*
That looks like a giant, monstrous Tweety Bird!![]()
The grass is just UGLY! But the creature is B E A U T I F U L

both good pointsThe globe itself is great, imo. It's the base that's ugly. And the cornucopia is really well done, just way too big
Chesapeake south Luna exit at the Fairgrounds. I am going to beg EM Dudley to let me and her get married.nice nice

looks like the frog king or some catfish
That's a matter of personal opinion...... Personally I hate the deer masks...

Malag, you just want to have your characters go "commando"....
Every time I see the deer mask, I think of that old Warner Brothers cartoon with the "Hunting suit for the Mother-in-law", where when she pulls up the hood, it has antlers.....
Can't help but thing of Blackadder and the "Black Russian Codpiece".Yes I would prefer that.... but since I have to have something I'd much rather have the 2d diaper to the EC brown boxers.
I'd prefer just a loincloth...
Exception to Molochs, whose abilities are inferior to their graphics- Anything Todd McFarlane...UO doesn't need robots
- Any of the creatures they brought over from Third Dawn and tried to pass them off as "new" art (thank got they finally fixed some of those abominations)
- Pretty much any of the creatures in the EC.
Are you talking about the Nest With Eggs?My vote is for the Charger (Donkey) of the Fallen or that bird nest we got from the last Spring turn in.
Well...no one ever said that Garriott didn't take the occasional hit.You know, I never quite understood the anti McFarlane sentiment. Exodus is half machine. And the Ultima games has a space ship in it. It's really not out of place for Ultima.
OMG! I totally remember that!! I tried to find it, but couldn't...but this is the closest I could find. Same era!!Every time I see the deer mask, I think of that old Warner Brothers cartoon with the "Hunting suit for the Mother-in-law", where when she pulls up the hood, it has antlers.....
