Two short questions about protection and slayer books

The questions are concerning PvM.

1. Protection.
I am a tamer/mage and can't decide if I like protection.
The lowered phys resist can probably be offset by the suit having higher phys resist. I don't have resists spells on my mage, does my resist go below 0 with protection on for poison/para etc. calculation? And second, can the -2 fc be offset by a +4fc suit, which would cap the mage +2 fc? (-2 +4 = 2)

2. slayer books: where can I get them other than buying?
I have yet to find a book as monster loot. Are they only crafted?

1. You can offset the -15 to pyhiscal resists. You would need 85 to stay at 70. Protection only takes away a percentage of your resisting spells, so can't go below 0. And no you can't offset the FC. You could have FC 10million, but protection would take it to 0.

On regards to whether you like it or not.. I like it! When you have 3 dark wisps stacking spells like there is no tomorrow on you, thank goodness for the non-interrupted recall! I usually switch it off if I know I'm not going to take any damage. For instance Lady-M, I switch it off so I can cast fireballs quicker.

The easest way to offset the physical resist is to cast reactive armor. This will lower your elemental resist by 5 each and put your physical back to 70.

Slayer spell books are crafted by player using the inscription skill. imho the easiest way to get them is make them. You'll go through a few regs on your way to 80ish but you can make scrolls and sell them to off set the cost. Once you reach 80ish you can make spellbooks just buying blank scrolls. The properties (like slayers) are random and you'll make alot of books to find the ones you need.

If you do the inscription quest in New Haven your reward when you reach 50 in inscription is an Undead superslayer spellbook FYI

Yes, now that you mention it, I have the undead slayer book from the quest

I guess I will put inscription on my new mage. Seems like it is a good choice of skill for a mage because of the 10% damage bonus.

And I switched protection off yesterday while out in alternative-moonglow and honestly, I died more than with it. But that is also, because my LRC armor sucks resist wise

Once you start makeing spell books you will find 100k scrolls will fill like you got no where.I whould deff advize makeing your own as to many folks pay out the yang for there books {seen a deamon slayer sell for 3 mill}
