im writing this so maybe ea can get more people who try to come back to do so.

personaly i was confused when i tried to reactivate. im glad ea wants me to see there other services or what ever bu ti just wanted to try uo again. i spent about 10 mins looking for my account before sending my 15 bucks else where.

so basically im saying in this day and age if i have to try on the internet ill probably just move on. please make it easier for the herd to get back in the game.

The new account management is so screwed up... badly designed, poorly thought out... but someone who doesn’t understand the account needs of customers, I really don’t even see how to recover older accounts like we used to.

This last fall, I also think the standard attempt to get players to return was reduced to an accident. 1 free month, was 1 week... that was unadvertised.

Got to love the rocket scientists at the EA office. rolleyes:

go to http://ultima-registration.com

look at graphic below

your Mythic Master Account is your UO account name + _uo

so example: lordbritish_uo

password is whatever your password was

after you do that you go through the process of creating an EA Account to attach your UO Account to.

This is not the first post I see about returning players having some difficulties to activate again their accounts and was wondering whether something could be done to make the process easier and less complex.

Not all returning players know about Stratics or have a Stratics account to come here and ask for help and guidance to reactivate their account so, it would much be preferable if the process to activate again an account was just simplified.

Or, at the very least, have some official "walkthrough" (perhaps at the UOHerald web site ?) that guides a player who may want to activate an account "step by step" on how to do it.

I would imagine that the more resources that Ultima Online has, the better it would be so, making the process to activate again an account easy and short, should be a good thing........

I agree it's very confusing. for example, it doesn't say that your Mythic Master Account is your UO account and it doesn't say you need to append _uo to the end of your account name. how do they expect people to know this?

also it says "Already have an EA Account?" people will assume that, yes, they do because they have a UO account and they will try to login and it will not work. they need to be clear an EA account is not a game account. again, how do they expect people to know this?

Just another fine example of EA's EPIC FAILURE at listening to us and responding in a manner with which to actually help people out with account migration.

Both of these issues have been pointed out by players dozens if not hundreds of times and yet you still must find a tutorial on Stratics in order to even have a slim chance of getting it done right the first time.

People are spending hours online and then on the phone attempting to get it done and yet more than likely they end up screwing it up because there is literally NO accurate and complete information provided DURING the process.

It wouldn't surprise me if many of the ongoing issues some people are having is as a result of borking things inadvertently before finding the tutorials here. By then it's too late, you've screwed something up and only the hopeless and asinine customer service can attempt to help. Then it's 50/50 at best.

There are actually quite a lot of pages on account management
Accounts, Upgrades, and Downloads | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online
One of them does say that your EA account is your email address.

My experience (lead by the example of Tina Small)
I put in my email address as my EA account and did 'lost password' - because I had no idea what the password for this was supposed to be.
Having got that I returned to the beginning and put in the email address with the new password.
That got me to the 'Mythic Master account'. I have 2 accounts on that email, so I put in one of them, with _uo tagged on the end. That made it my 'master' account. On the next screen I linked the other account to it - remembering to hit the 'confirm' button at the bottom or it doesn't save what you've done.
Since then I've learned I can actually change the password on my 'master account' as a seperate entity to the game account of the same name, but without the '_uo' part. I don't think I want to do that, it's confusing enough without that!

Yes there are plenty of pages on account management. On the UOHerald or on Stratics. The Account Management page itself is poorly lacking instruction and some very pertinent details. "_uo" for example.

How many people believe you should NEED a tutorial on how to create an account or to link accounts. They've taken something that is one of the most basic functions of many websites on the internet and turned it into a sophisticated, difficult quagmire of confusion.

Don't get me wrong. I personally had no problem with account migration. I did pay attention on Stratics for about a week before I did mine though and I'm well above average when it comes to technology and the internet.

I'm just saying it baffles me to no end how poorly planned for, implemented and executed the official account migration has turned out to be. Maybe I'm just bitchy today too. Seems my posts are bit negative today.

I admit it's difficult. In my view it seems severely slanted towards the idea of having one account which buys multiple stand-alone games. Not geared to the online subscription model where people have multiple accounts to play one game.

I wouldn't mind betting that our Mythic UO team are just about as frustrated by it as we players are too tbh.

I understand, but the problem is, that the end result of this complex process in re-activating an account "might" be that the player gets fed up of trying and gives up......

When this happens, this is lost revenues for Ultima Online and less players to play with for us, existing players.........

That is why I think this process should be given TOP priority to be made as easy as it can get and certainly LESS complex as it is now.........

Perhaps, there could be a 2 tiers process, a first step, EXTREMELY easy to re-activate an account and get going, without any bells and whistles, just a barebone VERY EASY first step to be back into Ultima Online and play again, and then, "IF" the player wants to get more, a second step registration to the whole EA world with all of the rest.

Make sure the player EASILY comes back and then, if wanted, make it possible through an additional process to get more in deep into the Management process.

That's at least how I'd personally see it as better.

Well, hey, you know... supposedly if you used your email address in conjunction with SW:TOR that it became your password for Origin. That indicates that Origin and the SW:TOR account system are in some way linked.

And yet...

The SW:TOR account management page doesn't interface at all with the Origin website or pages there, and is a completely different account management experience.

So explain to me how they could do that with SW:TOR but couldn't be bothered to do it for UO, DAoC, and WAR.

Yes, yes... I already know the explanation. "We're not actively spending money on systems for games we have no intention of providing real development for."
