I got an e-mail that the trial is expiring soon.

Is the game still free to play in TC3?

it's free to play in EA-Land and TC 3 yes! No Restrictions in TC3 but in Ea-Land there are restrictions!

It's telling me via e-mail if i don't activate billiing, it shuts off in 7 days. I thought the game was free now?

I've been getting those for some time now. My free accounts are alive and kickin'! I think they haven't updated their systems or something... Maybe it resets every 14 days and keeps sending emials. I don't really have a clue.

You will get the trial notice, but on the day it expires and after; it does remain playable and free.
Like someone else mentioned, the system probably hasn't been updated yet.
