It's the island due east of Buc's Den, only in Felucca.

And it's going to be messy...

Today's Clue...

I have me own island off the coast of Bucs Den in Felucca. No house there, just an island.

Today's Book...

Me new research suggests that Lord British may have taken the item needed to open the vault with him to protect it.

However, at the split of Trammel and Felucca, it seems there were many objects that were accidentally duplicated. This increases me odds a great deal.

I expect that any such artifacts will be here in Felucca. I must continue to be discrete in me inquiries lest the other thieves learn of me plan.

The more I think on it, the more I am awed by the crystal. I am starting to question me own pursuit of it. 'Tis unprofessional to entertain such a conscience, I know, but such power is staggering.

Oh... to be a monkey hanging atop a tree when all the reds come to turn that tiny little island into the bloodiest festival of murder this side of the PvP divide...

A few will like it, sure, but I think there will be more players disliking this decision than those liking it.

Particularly, since an account may have one or 2 characters capable of fighting, it is hard to have an account with all 7 characters capable of withstanding a PvP fight with any hope of winning it so to male it to the book alive.....

Especially, when the spot will be camped by several other players just waiting for someone to show up to attack all at once....

So, question is, was this a correct design decision to make ?

I just took all my Europa chars through, not a red in sight. Team up and go in a group? There are several treasure map spots on that island, several going in at each point should help, especially if some take some nice big pets along for company?

In case no one read the other thread, the closest treasure map rune, using goodmans rune library, is #85.

Goodman's map 85 is THB map 120. And the .map file down in the Fishing & T-hunter forum that I posted works in both UOAM and UOC, and has both coordinate sets included (though doing so meant I had to get rid of that one NESWXXX system locations - not many people still use it).

Just bank everything or leave in your house. I ran all my characters threw, and only had one die to a red. I didn't even give them a murder account. I told them I knew they would be there so I came with nothing LOL.
they also rezzed me so I could click on the book and leave

You mean runebook. But yes, that at least solves the reagent problem. Though having to take off everything and empty the beetles is not particularly fun. Whomever thought this spot would be a good idea should be slapped at the back of the head, Gibbs style.

How does it give reds participation? They can't get the lantern anyway. Could they even get the lamp of spirituality?

If they wanted reds to participate, they should simply have mirrored the books.

Well, I guess it lets them participate by having a steady stream of defenseless victims.

I'm glad I'm not on your shards.....

I just did 19 characters fully dressed, and the only red I saw was a Priest of Mondain, though a friend of mine with a red stealther is actually going there now to act as a healer and to keep the giant serps off people. PvP's so quiet, most of the reds will still be in bed for another hour, before getting up to try to raid any spawn someone tries to do before server maintenance.

Could it be because if you throw the dogs a bone, they show you exactly why Trammel was created in the first place?

I mean, honestly, everyone at Mythic knew that this would become a gank fest. No one's surprised by this. Now you can get in and out if you leave anything of importance behind... but yeah, there's going to be people there ready to kill you most hours of the day now.

Because if there's anything that is truly representative of Felucca, it's "If a bunch of PK-hungry, starving dogs are told the location of anything going on, you either go in force, or you expect to die."

These, of course, are the same players that say the heyday of UO was pre-Trammel, and have no idea what caused EA to make that choice in the first place.

I have felucca treasure map runes for Europa. I'll make the relevant book available at the Angry Mongbat Tavern.
edit: The tavern is at 57º 34'N 25º 35'W Next door to Barian's Mall. The book is on the Gypsy's table (cross her palm with gp and she'll even tell you your fortune) Use any rune from 117 - 120

I've got plenty of characters that can't defend themselves, and I think this was a good idea. Nice for people to get a little reminder of what the game used to be like. Just make sure you are insured and don't carry anything you don't absolutely need.

I disagree. It's ****ty decision making to force the majority of the game into a playstyle they don't want to participate in, and even worse that they set up yet anoter quest chain for everyone in the game that is once again forcing PvP on players. Regardless of what precautions or whatever a person might do, the simple fact of the matter is that once people wake up and find out where the location is, it will be camped all day long, and will most likely prevent a LOT of players from even being able to reach the book to complete today's part of the chain.

This is no different than the Halloween event, which pissed off a LOT of people, where legalized stealing was made possible. You'd think they'd have learned from their mistake then. The majority of UO players have no wish AT ALL to participate in PvP situations, but they also have no wish to be in Fel ever. It's an idiotic, brain dead decision to allow this, and I sure hope they don't plan on making a habit of it, because if so, there will be people quitting because of it. Events should have a choice of playstyles, either PvM or PvP, and not one or the other because when that happens, players get alienated and lose interest, which is not something the game needs at this point.

A suggestion:

someone who's able mark a rune right by the book (I've already done this on Europa)
Someone cast gate on that rune. You should be able to go through the gate, click the book and return through it before you can be killed.
That's if there's any reds actually there. Has anyone met any yet?

I like gathering stuff for my museum. RL kept me busy and was going to play catch up this weekend. Spot in fel, Joy. Now I can catch up on some mining instead. I can see that I wont be on chat either till this is over also.

Last player controled/effect on world event that worked was the invasion with the "Who's the better killer statue" Before you go on about the Mag destruction. Do you really think that if one shard saved the city it would of stayed the same for them? This rebuild is going to be a carpet same for all event. Only shard uniqueness is the asian shards. Look at how long the WBB redeco has gone. Are not some still waiting or got the wrong build?

Sure there is a few of us that will boycott this event. Make the gold to buy the items from the grinders. The first big question those that create and run the game should ask is "How this will effect my paycheck if we keep this up?"
Not how the players will cry or will there be an imbalance in PVP or the monbat population. The reason UO is failing is it has become a knotch on a resume and not a love affair.

You read this far I will give some usefull information. Hello! It is call SKULL ISLAND. The real fun would of been if it was on DOT ISLE.

Okay, let's tone down the "oh woe is me" thinking here.

The quest doesn't change every day. It simply gives you the opportunity to have another chance at getting [Megacliloc Error Cloak] and [Megacliloc Error Talisman]. If you don't want to go to Felucca, don't. No one is forcing you to. You've had 8 other chances to do so.

And as others have pointed out -- one of which you rudely altered the quote of to fit your own back-patting needs -- reds don't even get to participate in the event (until today) because there's no way for them to obtain a lantern. Lanterns only work for the person who picked them up.

Who knows where tomorrow's spot will be... but you've already had 8 tries. If the 9th attempt bothers you that much, again, don't do it. The sky is not falling, and anyone "pissed" because now they "have" to go to Felucca is over-exaggerating the situation by leaps and bounds.

There've been four COMPLETELY safe places to complete the quest:
Day 2 - Moonglow
Day 3 - Vesper sandbar
Day 5 - Buc's Den with no spawn nearby
Day 6 - Valentine's Park

One day of OH NOES THERE'S UNDEAD AROUND, semi-unsafe:
Day 1 - Ruins near Terathan Keep

One day of POTENTIALLY UNSAFE spawn nearby:
Day 7 - Isamu Shrine (Shrine of Valor)

One day of DEAR GOD, WHY HERE? spawn nearby:
Day 8 - Through Honor to the Ratman Fort in Ilshenar

Now, finally on Day 9, there's a WOAH, I REALLY DON'T WANT TO GO THERE spot, and there's a lot of QQing going on.

Guess what? I've gotten all my characters through... Died once. Was even stupid enough to res there and die again. Then had someone gate me out.

Whoopdie doo.

But, really, if you don't like the risk -- and I'm not saying people have to like the risk -- the option of not going does exist. You've not missed out on anything except a single chance out of 10. If it's REALLY that important to you, you might consider that you're giving too much importance to this in general.

Actually, because the GL RP community currently participates in factions, the one/two time(s) I died (same incident, just dumb enough to fall for the "go ahead and res, one kill's enough" routine) was to three faction oranges.

I have seen a couple of reds come and go... but they were escorting others to complete the quest.

I expect today will be a different story, but big whoop, really. If I had to miss a day because I didn't want to give it a try, I'd miss a day.

But really, anyone that worried could strip nude, have a friend gate them in next to it, they will most likely double-click the book before they die, and then, go back through as a ghost and voila, you're done.

I mean, yeah, they've made poor quest decisions in the past... but this one is NOT one of them. Felucca DOES continue to exist, and sometimes, well, sometimes stuff NEEDS to go on there.

Were this a central, unique and never to be repeated need to visit the site, you'd have a stronger case, but as things stand so far I've been able to run every character I have through all the locations, whereas players with red characters have had those excluded from some.

I can't for the life of me see any fairness in them not getting at clear run (under their preferred ruleset) at at least one location.... and if I don't go to the Fel one, so what? It's my choice, down to me, and certainly not something to viewed as 'boycotting' anything, or a case of being 'forced' into anything. I've hardly been alienated, or 'lost interest' - I've just looked where today's lottery draw was, and decided I'll give that site a miss.

For anyone doing this on Atlantic, the easiest way to get there (I don't believe that Goodman's has the day 9 rune yet in the quest book) is to go to the first floor of Goodman's to the Fel T-Map Runebooks. Second column of books, second book down, labeled: Skull Island (VERY DANGEROUS).

Once they put a rune for it in the Ricardo quest book.. that will be the easiest way

As for putting the book in Fel.. well.. like it or not, Fel is part of the game. Nothing holds me back from going to Fel and I don't really PvP (Not that I don't like to, I just came back to the game not long ago and don't have a suit or template for it.) With insurance and all that.. dying by a red is nothing more than a slight annoyance. Or maybe I just don't get too worked up

Side note: As of 7:30AM EST on Atlantic, Book 9 was not being camped by reds. In fact, there was a blue TB guild there protecting the spot for others. I thought that this was pretty cool.

I should add all 14 of my characters are in factions (and only two of them use faction arties), even the ones that can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

I just hopped over and only saw one player there. No problems. Just recalled in (fully dressed!), walked over, read the book and recalled out.

I will go over later today and see if it is any scarier. Morning cartoons are still on, so I didn't expect a crowd yet.

Consider this an opportunity. Just get a group together and go camp the "red" spawn. After all, UO is not a single player game.

It would have been much better handled just having Crag's clue locations available in Fel, including the ones in Ilsh and Zento. This way everyone could participate with all characters, regardless of whether they're blue or red.

As far as people running though with no problems this morning, it's still early in the morning. Give it a couple of hours and the spot will be camped for the rest of the day.
