Magery gains do not depend on what you fight, but what level spell you cast. Even spells like Recall and Gate Travel will work to get gains. At your level, cast lots of level 6 spells until you reach about 88.0 skill points and then go to level 7 spells. Invis cast on yourself repeatedly is a booooring way to do it, but it will work. If you prefer to gain through combat, then Energy Bolt, Explosion and Energy Field are the spells of choice.

Safe Journeys!

If you trying to use Mage Weapon to train, then your displayed magery is the same as if you were trying to train melee skill. Can't recall, but think it is about 20 pt range, so you should fight things with 80-86 wrestling.

Your weapon of choice doesn't have to be a wand but it does have to have mage weapon somewhere in it's description.

Yeah, any mage weapon. And if you get one that is spell channeling as well, can gain from fighting and cast spells to gain.

If I was going to train magery with mage weapon I would look for spell channeling, HCI, and mana leech as foundation for an ideal weapon.

A lot of people like to use 100% poison damage mage weapons to train magery. They buy or make a golem and hit it with the poison damage weapon and it takes very little damage.
