You have accurately described the pre-Trammel world....Become what you behold, or be victimized by it.My first day in UO, we got 100 gold. My first 100 gold was stolen under 1 minute after coming to play UO for the first time. I laughed so hard, thinking, finally a challenge.
I remembered that guys name and guild affiliation. within 2 weeks, I was the bane of Dead Presidents. And my name would haunt them until the day they finally recruited me. Those thieves and reds found themselves on the wrong end of a power gamer back then but the experience was always in fun. only 2 guys in their guild ever trash talked me. That trash talk usually came in the form of o0o0o0o0 o0o o0o0o0o
Taming is one of the hardest skills to raise. It takes lots of time. If anybody is taming they usually go by taming guide Now at certain level you need a certain difficulty of cretures to tame to raise skill most efficientcy. Now to average time to take to train skill you need that creature to spawn quickly and numerous in a small area whiout much interference from monsters that will make you waste more time.Uo is a big huge game. I have never encountered the type of problems that you have and spend my entire time in Trammel. However Uo is a big game, there is lots of room. You can go to other places, tame bulls elsewhere. I can't imagine someone with 2 million gold to give away can't find a better solution. How could you possibly be playing long enough to have the 2 mill to give away and not know more about the game? If you can't possibly think of another way to gain skill then you can always try another time at the same place. In Trammel you have to give room for the other players or share with them unlike Fellucca where you can kill them if you want to hog the place.
I trained a tamer from zero to 110 recently all in Trammel. Don't tell me it's hard. It's hard for the powergamer that might be true. It's not that difficult for the average or even less than average player namely me. You want to hog the spawn? Boohooo.Taming is one of the hardest skills to raise. It takes lots of time. Ridgebacks are good to tame also as long as you go to a high spawn site with no enemies. But it comes down to this when raising such a hard to raise skill will a vet prefer to tame 50 times a hour or tame 100 times a hour. Get twice more done in jhelom in such a small space than you get done in delucia in a little larger space and much more done in any random forest spawn anywhere. Only ridgebacks is the alternative.
But mostly the point the op was making it has nothing to do with taming these are grief players that are constantly around there. They do not want to share they want to prevent tamer making by getting rid of the ability to do so using the excuse of stopping scripters but it dosent' matter they really want to prevent anybody from doing so.
The op didn't hog any spawn. The grief players are the ones that hog the spawn for no reason other than preventing anybody from doing it. He offered money so that the grief players stop griefing.I trained a tamer from zero to 110 recently all in Trammel. Don't tell me it's hard. It's hard for the powergamer that might be true. Greifers need someone to grief. If there is no one there to grief they can't grief anyone and move on to other things. What is likely true is that those were other players who wanted to do other things. Once they are done they will move on. I don't know what shard you are on that has griefers 24 hours a day 7 days a week without anyone around most of the time to grief. Someone gave me a 110 scroll and I haven't bothered to get 120 because I don't intend to for that character who is my tailor. SO how long did it take you to finish youre tamer which you still 10 points of.
I've finished 3 over the years. 1 the slow way took 5 years, The other 2 powergaming took 2 weeks each and ggs gains after 110 for 6 months.
The ones training do not hog spawn they share the griefters don't do anything but hog and prevent others from training.
There not 24/7 but they enjoy passing around. Theres other places also. Mostly they are red players with blue characters or strictly pvp who hate anything trammel we have a nice extensive list of names of players that have being encountered by my alliance that make it there business to grief in there spare time when they can't find prey. Others are tamers that had to raise there skills with many years of work and dont want a easy button, and others well who knows.Greifers need someone to grief. Not griefers I say or they would have took the mil and still stayed there. Whatever go play in Felucca. There not 24/7 but they enjoy passing around. Theres other places also. Am sure the OP knows where the rest of the bulls at. The thing is there is no better place than jhelom pens then 2nd would be delucia for bulls. Like I said before ridgebacks is a nicer alternative. Though bad idea to offer griefters money as they don't care about that as that will make them extortionist. Though If he like he can pm me the names of there characters and shard and I'll send it to my alliance so we can keep a look out for them and well grief the griefters if we bored and ever encounter them.
Actually am a mojor trammel player. And there also script hunters that crossed the line and became griefters. Unless you think there just players that like to have all the bulls tied to them doing nothing with them. Or just bull killers who chose that spot of all spots to keep killing bulls for leather? Theres alot better animals for that. Nope there exactly what I said. They sure werent training taming. Not griefers I say or they would have took the mil and still stayed there. Whatever go play in Felucca.
I had not gone back. I think the people were just a bit salty that I displayed little difficulty in dispatch 2 obviously better equipped players and complained to freja. At the time, there was no book only some loose guidelines. There is a book you have to read that has the rules in it that you must agree to before you can join NEW. If you didn't know the rules, it's your own fault. And just so everyone knows, that's NOT what the rules say. You CAN defend yourself but you CANNOT go back and kill people AFTER the fight is over for revenge.

frankly when i visit trammel, I assume it is as they say on these forums. It's not apparently. I primarily play in fel. I assumed, incorrectly that carrot/stick would work anywhere in UO. I learned that there is really no way to motivate another player to do anything in trammel. In reality it stems from a lack of community. People have no reason to think that I can impact their game play.Uo is a big huge game. I have never encountered the type of problems that you have and spend my entire time in Trammel. indeed. I think I was better off just wandering without the tag that said attack me. though I'm pretty sure most of the people i encountered were not hardcore pvpers but rather rp bad guys who happened to walk into someone who wasn't just going to fall dead.Also... NEW is not a fit for everyone.
Gratz Connor. May I quote you on that? IMO your best post ever.I'm not following why someone would judge 75% of the population of the entire game based on a couple of asshats he ran into. Seems pretty narrow minded to me.
Lol, sure, go ahead.Gratz Connor. May I quote you on that? IMO your best post ever.
This seems to me to be a recurring thing. I feel as a player driven, further and further away from any sense of community when i cross the divide to blue gate land. it should simply not be so.I'm not following why someone would judge 75% of the population of the entire game based on a couple of asshats he ran into. You're either just going to the wrong places, or having crappy luck and running into the same few asshats. The majority of players in Tram play nice. Maybe you should try another shard other than Atlantic. This seems to me to be a recurring thing. Then the answer would be that you're going to the wrong places or having crappy luck and running into the same few asshats. I rarely run into the situation you describe in your OP, and with the amount of time that I play daily, it would be a normal occurrence if things were as bad as you seem to think they are.connor, it was not too long ago that I played pacific and encountered much of the same behavior
I would also like to have a chance at a taming gain each time the overhead text changes while actively taming a creature. There's a check to lore at each of those, why isn't there one to taming too?I have always promoted giving taming gains from everyday game play based on the pets difficulty to command, so you can at least play!
uo is a game where everyone is out for themselves.... its been this way for as long as i can remember, hence constant scammers running around... very rarely will u find someone willing to help another... also offering someone a mil check is like offering them 70 centsSo i decided to work on a tamer i began in 99. I went to jhelom farms in trammel as I had heard that this was the place to train on bulls.
Well, Let me tell you folks about my experience.
First, 1 guy had one tamed and was training it on smaller animals. he declined multiple requests that he leave the server line for just a moment with it, even gates. Even when offered a million gold to do so.
Second, another guy shows up and just stands there killing bulls as they spawn. Saying all sorts of rude things. Refusing to leave, even when politely asked AND offered a million gold check to do so.
Next, I deal with some guy spamming some unfriendly statements but him i just use ignore on.
Unfriendly UO player #2 declined dueling mage on mage or any template on any template.
What has happened to the folks in this game? There is no friendliness, no courtesy. Trammel has become a danged cesspool. I found myself taming on a newbie tamer eventually in peace in fel. I've be attacked once but left alone when the less savory citizen of sosaria realized I was taming naked with nothing on me and no insured property.
I've had some bad experiences in UO. But folks in Trammel have convinced me that UO is single player only as soon as you leave the land of the red gates.
The only communities I can find anymore are in fel I guess. It's just sad that folks are so rude in this game and that the land meant to provide safety and insulation is really just a haven for those who desire to bother you with absolute impunity.
I do so miss the days of UO community.
Perhaps your playing between 5pm and 9pm, with school just getting out you will see a lot more " asshats" and anti social behavior. No matter where you go......connor, it was not too long ago that I played pacific and encountered much of the same behavior
