To all those who are thinking about making their crafters gargoyles just for imbuing.

There are a lot of conflicting numbers and ideas going around about the benefits of being a gargoyle when it comes to imbuing. During beta testing, the general perception was that the difference was about 2% (if I remember correctly), but I recently read on one thread that the difference was as high as 7%. So anyway, I decided to do a bit of testing to get some hard numbers for myself and thought some of you might be interested in the results.

Both tests were performed at 114.9 Imbuing - that's where my (human) artificer is at now, on a production shard. I made a gargoyle on Test Center and set his Imbuing to 114.9 for a direct comparison. Both tests were made at the public soulforge in Ter Mur (the one where the Imbuing Powerscroll quest givers are located). The final imbue was not actually done; I just picked an expensive imbue and jotted down the success chances for that according to the Imbuing menu. Both tests were done on exceptionally-crafted GM armslore daggers - so the fourth imbue is actually adding a 5th mod.

And now the results...

Gargoyle
--------
First Imbue: Hit Fire Area 44% - 126.3% Success
Second Imbue: Fire Resist 13% - 71.2% Success
Third Imbue: Hit Dispel 36% - 39.0% Success
Fourth Imbue: DCI 15% - 6.2% Success

Human
-------
First Imbue: Hit Fire Area 44% - 116.6% Success
Second Imbue: Fire Resist 13% - 65.7% Success
Third Imbue: Hit Dispel 36% - 36.0% Success
Fourth Imbue: DCI 15% - 5.7% Success

So, as you can see, for the first couple of imbues, being a gargoyle has a big advantage - almost 10% on the first one and almost 6% on the second. But when you get down to the hard ones - the last couple - the advantage shrinks hugely. For the final imbue (the one where the advantage would really be a big deal), the difference between a human's and a gargoyle's success chance is a measly half a percent.

Anyway, in light of this, I've decided to keep my crafter human. Hopefully, others can use this info as well.

edit: Still waking up, but the advantage would appear to be a consistant multiplicative 8.3% -- meaning 8.3% *of* your current success chance as a human would be added as a gargoyle, though, not 8.3% is just added on top.

Not sure if it matters but the soulforge in the centre of town does also give you a slight boost to your success rate.

On this kinda subject, how do you use the queens soulforge?? A friend of mine has over 10k loyalty points 120imbuing and a gargoyle yet gets the message about not being at a soulforge when standing by it.

Is there also a map showing where it is incase hes using the wrong one.

The queen's soulforge is the one that's actually in the palace. It's on the bottom floor.

good post and thanks. I insist on making two gargoyles... one is my artificer and the other will be my bladeweaver. Yet, that info is still good to know.
