Throwing weapon question:

Yes, I know this is UHall, and not the warrior forum. This forum gets looked at, and if I post the question in the warrior forum then dust will settle on it for 3 days before I get an answer.

I just noticed today that many of my exceptional soul glaives have a range of 10 or 11.
My exceptional cyclones have a range of 8 or 9.

I just assumed the weps all had the same range (11 for glaives, 9 for cyclones) while crafting them. Today I crafted 100 of each, and they all have 11 for glaives, and 9 for cyclones. So maybe the 10 range for glaives, and 8 range for cyclones can no longer be crafted?

Initially I thought that bringing ssi to 30, or enhancing with different colored ingots would change their range, but after testing that theory today, I'm still getting the 11 for glaives, and 9 for cyclones.

Anyone have any idea why a bunch of my weps would be lacking that 1 range on them?

Sorry for polluting the UHall with a question that doesn't pertain to acct migration, lag spike issues, or spring cleaning. :)

I might be wrong here, but judging from what I know about throwing (wich might very well be very outdated) the range of the weapons are based on the throwers strenght.

The range of throwing weapons is dependent on the STR of the char holding the weapon. I have 3 throwers, and it looks like 140-150 str gives you 11 on soul glaives. My middle thrower has 128 str and his glaive shows range 10 while he is holding it. I had a friend curse him and when he dropped to 113 str his glaive showed range 9. I had a guy who just made a new char with 45 str hold a gold glaive(50% lower req) and it showed range 8. My best guess would be 40-79 is range 8, 80-119 is range 9, 120-139 is 10, 140+ is range 11.

You know, I knew that strength play a part in hit chance, but I didn't realize until now that the range number listed on the weapon actually changes based on what your strength last was before you un-equip it.

I put a soul glaive that had a range 10 on it in my hand at 120 str, and it stayed at 10 range.
I potted up to 150 str, and the weapon changed to 11 range.
I un-equiped it and the 11 range remained on the weapon while in my bag.

Further tests showed:
At 110 str the soul glaive dropped to 9 range.
At 140 str it went to 11 range.

Mystery solved, thanks AzSel.

Oops, I was typing while you posted Mr. Smither.

Nice testing there!

See, I knew I didn't want to sit in the warrior forum for 3 days waiting for an answer. :)

i thought range was based on skill level. or is it combo of both skill + str?
perhaps test center will tell.

* Range = BaseRange + ((PlayerStrength - MinWeaponStrReq) / ((150 - MinWeaponStrReq) / 3))
* The absolute maximum range is capped at 11 tiles
