Yes, popps, I deleted all those pictures, along with both the SA and legacy clients for UO, UO Assist, and UO Automap, and all the macro folders for both clients and UO Assist. Cleared up over 5 gig of hard drive space doing that!
I haven't quite gotten UO completely out of my system yet. Still having a hard time not poking my head in U.Hall occasionally to see what's going on. (Not logging in to UO the last two weeks has been a breeze, though. No pangs there.) I do still have a few old screen shots and UO-related jpg files I made in Photoshop stored on my laptop and a couple more of them backed up on a network drive. Can't quite bring myself to delete those just yet. However, I know the day will come when I will want that space and there will only be a second or two of hesitation before I delete them too. (And before you say it, Llams Anit whoever you are, the needle's still in but yanking it out hasn't been as bad as I feared. And no, I didn't replace UO with any other game. I'm finished with gaming for good, I hope.) But yes, the 800+ UO-related pictures I had stored on Photobucket are gone. I have a Pro account, so I wasn't lacking for space by any means. However, I've been working on photography and getting better with Photoshop and seeing that folder of UO pictures every time I signed in to Photobucket was annoying. Also frustrating was seeing old UO pictures I no longer cared about completely dominating my picture view stats.
So, as part of the process of walking away from UO, I deleted my UO pictures folder on Photobucket. I knew Petra had already captured all the important stuff and made it much more accessible on the Stratics site. You can find it there now in mere seconds, rather than having to search for a dusty old thread.
Because I volunteered and/or because Petra saw something in some of my posts that was worth saving, all is not lost as far as someone being able to still get to any truly useful stuff I might have posted. Petra and several other people have spent an enormous amount of time updating the Stratics site. Every week, there's a post on Saturday detailing what's been added or updated. Sadly, I think too many people either ignore those posts or take them for granted. I hope that this incident reminds people of the importance and value of what Petra and others have done via the Stratics site. Perhaps it will also motivate some of the more ambitious forum users to contact Petra about getting the information they've gathered posted in a much more accessible and permanent location on Stratics.
Be well, folks. Talk at you all later sometime, perhaps!
*Wanders off to find Petra to lock up the Stratics account again.*
