First, let me make sure I know the rules:

"To try to clear up some confusion:

You can say:
'your pvp skills stink', 'your running skills are legendary', you're a darn good house-hider' or something along those lines.

You can't say:

You are (or "name" is) a

* scammer
* hacker
* cheater
* moron
* idiot
* ******
* pancake
* any word with stars in dodging the profanity filter
* etc.

You get the picture?"

Now, lets see what a compliant poster I am by following them.

Monolith, your "thieving" skills are legendary.

Memnoch, you are a darn good "alliance mate".

Kat, your "sense of right and wrong" stinks.

Now, if there is anything wrong with this post, then the sticky is in error.

These things can easily be made up.

These are proven fact :)

teehee, its dancing!
It is dancing...but what exactly is it? Broccoli? Stalk of very leafy topped celery? Perhaps a mutant pickle with an afro?

Do celebratory crudités violate the RoC?

Can we be sure of anything?

:confused:

Well in regards to me being a "good alliance mate"

Im glad you view me as such, Ive realized at my young age that hate is a horrible thing to live with. Lifes too short to hate or seek revenge.

Let those do to you as they will, try to prevent wrong doing, but that in which will happen does so. However understand that those who act out against others will have their day in which they'll be acted out against themselves. Turn the other cheek persay.

This is easier said in a video game then in real life, however the simple fact that you'd hold such hate and hold such a grudge over a video game makes me pray for you :(

There's also allowing for people to grow up.

I know a 20yr old who is thoroughly ashamed of the strokes he pulled as a 14yr old, when he had far less consideration for other people. But older people with long memories still hold it against him.

It's really hard to discern people's motives for the things they do and the way they do them.
For example the way I choose to moderate is, when possible, to ask people if they'll please edit that part of their post which breaks RoC, so that the main part of the post can remain in answer to the thread. To me that seemed a fairer way to do it than high-handedly and arbitrarily removing posts, unless that was absolutely necessary.

Why did I take it on at all? Well, somebody had to, Kelmo can't do it 24/7 and I thought I could do it more sympathetically than someone who didn't play the shard, or even the game. I'm on-line for long periods, I play the shard, I don't belong to any of the large guilds, I don't have any pvp enemies, I don't consider anyone who has pk'd my char to be an enemy either. I thought I had a good chance of being as fair as is humanly possible.
The one reason that never came into my thoughts was that of having power over anything or anybody. I'm not into power trips, all I aim to do is try to get everyone, me included, posting within the rules. That sticky I posted isn't my definition of 'personal attack' it's Orvago's, it's the guidelines he posted for us all to follow on the old boards before he went back to his admin role. All I did was add a few more examples in an effort to be clear.

Censorship is gay. But, I do understand a need for some degree of it. I think it's overboard here we should just be able to have a board pvp thread for siege so we can pancake and moan to each other or at each other and then everything would be fine. Something with a sticky that says "If you go in here, don't whine about what you read".

I enjoy board pvp, it's amusing and a lot of the people who engage in here have great sense of humor. I can't tell you how many laughs (out loud) I've gotten at people that slammed me, or I read slamming others. It's all in fun and it is as I said amusing.

There should be a place for it here, but I agree that it shouldn't be in the main threads.

Can we have such a thread? I'm sure the folks that Board Warrior would like it, and agree not to board warrior in this one (making your jobs as mods a lot easier I would imagine).

Anyway that's my thought for the day. Have a great week folks.

unfortunately, with the way things are set up, and rules that govern Stratics, not just Stratics own rules, that's not possible.

Have you ever visited the No Holds barred forum? If you had you'd have seen that you can't just click on the forum name and see all the threads in the way you can this board.

This board is 'public' and can be seen by anyone on the internet, whether they're logged in or not. The same would be true of any thread on the board. That's not so with the OT board. You can't 'lurk' there not logged in, you can't even see it if you're logged in but registered as being under 18.

Emperor Palpatine disagrees with you.
Yeah, but Emperor Palpatine turned into an ugly mutant troll freak and ultimately got tossed down a reactor core shaft by his chief flunky. His stored up hate made a nice 5 second blue light show though...sort of like a big cosmic Tidy Bowl flush in the reactor core. :D

Excellent Skylark, now turn that dislike of the Emperor into anger... Use your anger... Don't you 'hate' the evil emperor? He is so evil and bad... so hate-able... Hate him Skylark, be angry with him...

I think the point of this exercise is to point out that questioning someones grasp of right and wrong is a violation of the ROC, just the same as calling them stupid.

Have you ever been handed money by someone for something and you realize they've given you too much?

In a split second, you make a decision whether to give it back or keep it.

I don't hate the people who keep the money, I just don't trust them.

In other words, given the opportunity, some people do the right thing more often, some people do the right thing less often.

In UO I have the luxury of choosing the people I associate with and I prefer to associate with the former.

In a fantasy game pitting good versus evil and right versus wrong you think it is a violation of the ROC to suggest that someone is misguided?

I'll message KSS right now and tell them their guild charter is an ROC violation.

:)

There's also allowing for people to grow up.
The people who wronged Mem don't have the excuse of being young.

One could argue that they need to grow up though.

Learning to play fair in a game seems like as good a place to start as any.

(I hate bored discussions, they always seem to end in confusion)

If said person were role playing and stated another persons character had an ethics problem then it would be not in violation. A random statement using the persons name or username without the ambiguity of role play the statement would clearly be in violation.

Just the same as my character calling your character and idiot and slapping him/her/it with a gauntlet and proclaiming war would be role play. Simply stating you have a poor sense of right and wrong is far from role play.

The main problem with board PVP is the initial intent is not in the spirit of friendship. Using this logic it can be hypothesized that all board PVP is in violation of the ROC. But in the same inference you can justify almost anything.
However, this is all just simple conjecture.

im not exactly sure how you get to the conclusion that the roc of stratics would have anything to do with a guildcharter. could you explain that?
