I have played Ultima Online for 8 or 9 years and have heard all the hype about WoW.So I got a few questions about it.I like to PvM more then PvP, I loved taming in UO and getting rare pets/mounts, I liked having my own houses to keep my items in, i also like being able to play by myself or go out with the guild to kill larger creatures. So with them things I like would i like WoW?Looking for opinions ty alot for the opinions

Ok well first things first, say goodbye to a home. you get a bank and a few backpacks. If it stacks into one of those two your all set, otherwise when you drop something it vanishes. Say goodbye to UO's lag pools of junk at WBB.

I only pvm or as it is called in wow, pve. You will love it! Hunters can dins rare spawns of pets and train them to be their pets so yes, Hunters can really have a blast.

I left UO in 05 and have been here every since. Come on over and join us.

Corpse looting is simple in WoW. Once the target is dead, if it is lootable it will lay on the ground and sparkle. All you gotta do is right-click it (while within range of the dead target) and the loot box opens up...or if you have autoloot turned on, you will pick up all items on the target as long as you have bag space. Otherwise, you will get an error stating your bags are full.

If you like the taming, hunters are awesome. The whole idea of progressing is different from UO...there are actually levels AND weapon skills you will have to build up. Its fun, really...come toward the light...

Being a UO vet, I am thinking your concern about looting rights comes from gankers who take the treasure off of your kill. That cannot happen here. In uo, if I rem right, after a certain timer, anyone can loot the body of a fallen foe. Not in WoW.

When alone, if you do not loot a body, no one else can ever get it, it will just fade away. In parties, the Party Leader can change the looting rights. From Free for All to Turns, to Loot Master. You can also specify which types of treaure you require the entire group to "roll on" for a chance at the item. It not just the fastest looter gets it.

So if a Hat of the Magi or whatever were to drop, a box pops up onto everyone in the partys screen. Your choices are Need, Greed or hit X to drop from contention. If cloth drops, only cloth wearers should hit Need. And only then if the new treasure is better than what they have on. Looting is fair in WoW.

...And thats from a 84 month UO vet. No homes, but unreal depth in the world around lets your forget you don't have one.

Also, Devs that rock, constant updates from dev team if a problem is underway, I've been given a 24 hour credit on my bill too, when certain servers (or shards for us UO guys) were down. Also, no server lines! No rubberbanding!

We'll see you in Azeroth!

Welcome to the wonderful world of WoW.

When I left UO and started WoW several years ago, I really wanted to hate WoW. In fact, I played both for a little while, because I was positive I would hate WoW. I really tried hard to hate it. But the more I Played, the more hooked I became. Logging into UO became the chore and I eventually quit Uo completely and never looked back.

I play Wow 90% solo and I only PvE. I have never tried to PvP so I know absolutely nothing about it. When I feel like playing with others, they are there for me. It's very easy to find a group, for the quests you can't do alone. The guilds are great depending upon which one you decide to join. The one I am in is way more helpful than I want at times.

If you aren't sure you will like WoW, then have someone send you a 10 day trial. I would be happy to do that if you want. Then you have 10 days to try it out and see if you like it, if you do, buy it, if not go back to UO.

But I'm 99% sure you will love it!

And if you choose Silver Hand as your server, look up Tondra or Caiss and I would be happy to help you out!

I actually like not having a house every 2 steps in the forests. I hated running from mobs and pks in an endless maze of houses. And if that was not bad enough, with custom housing, some places really look like eye sores.

With the guild banks coming, players will have easier ways to share items with fellow guildies, and with changes coming to the mail system (like being able to send more then 1 item) you really don't miss the UO housing system.

I have a feeling that if Blizzard ever puts in player housing, it will be instanced like in FFXI

I played UO for 8 - 9 years also and thought I would never play WOW. I mean I flat out refused to play any other game. Until my guild all went over there. I had about 20 accounts on UO and well they are all closed now and I don't ever think about playing it anymore. I have fond memories of my first guild me and my husband made and ran but now UO is nothing of what it used to be. I dont miss anything in UO.

WOW took a little getting used to but I love it and the more I play the more I love it.

Join the WoW community you will love it.

i've played UO for about 4 years, but since playing WoW, i don't really miss it that much. There's tons to do PvM, and there are plenty of pets to tame (if you get a hunter). As for mounts, there are quite a few to choose from...and in the next patch, in the new instance, there's a bear mount that's a rare drop. Oh, yeah, we also get various flying mounts too. Or if you're a druid, you can shapeshift and fly on your own.

As for housing, not right now in WoW, but there's always a chance in the future....but with all the things you can do in WoW, I don't really miss it...unless it's storage space, heh.
