The general intent is if a group of 5 players adventure through the entire Doom gauntlet at various luck values, each one of them would hopefully receive an artifact by their 4-5th run. It could be a little sooner than that. It could be later.

By Leurocian on Uhall today regarding the drop rate for doom artifacts.... based on evidence passed to me by friends and from the above statement, its quite likely there will be a significant drop in price for doom artifacts, so if you decide to purchase any do so at your own discretion as the value may fluctuate greatly within a short period of time.

Too right bro!! i have 2 chains of thought here!!!

trader= get shut at top whack prices right now before the market is flooded big time!!!

buyer= wait a month and get 2 for the price of 1 now!!!

I have to say I like the change then again It seems stupid, I mean there are Already enough ornys but with this there are ganna be twice as many.

I mean you can get them for 30-40 no so I would guess 15-25 max

ild expect the rate to fall under 15-25 if the dev team doesnt make adjustments and soon, but perhaps thats the intent to level the field.

with a group of 3-4 people, I dont see a huge difference in drop rate. 4-5 runs would be an average of a guild group, maybe even increased if there were players using luck.

I guess the change primarily affects the average player who might go often but not enough to get a huge success chance. Im gonna try my odds this weekend.

between what ive been told and seen posted there have been individuals getting upwards of 2-4 an hour on american shards, and some people who recieved as many as a dozen doom articfacts today....that is simply put an excessive amount, and in order to make the reduction significant the current point values would have to be changed to a 10th of the current values or less.

Eh I don't think it's a bad thing that people are getting arties much more easily, they were never meant to be uber rare. I'm a little sad that I have a bag of 60 artifacts I've never gotten around to selling - and I've never done doom or bought an arty, for that matter (yaaay, idocs!) So not like the change will be good for me, but I can see how it would benefit most players.

it should require more investment then 15 mins in doom though, even if you brought the points down to 1/3 of the current total yould still be talking about 1 arty an hour or so which is just excessive. Doom should require more investment than 20 mins to get an item.

i hope they do something cause this screws over the market pretty badly, i dunno why they would do this, bad enough what they did with cursed arties

hell i probly spent 6 hours in doom non stop, i got 4 arties which all sucked, another guy got 21 arties and our suits match... instead of fixing the drop they need to fix the fact that some characters get a special bonus for everything (doom, scrolls, etc)

Personaly, I've always been a fan of the old days...I say bring back pre-aos, lets go back to renassaince, or earlier and get rid of all the artifacts.

Keep 120's, keep event rares and seer items, keep mods on weapons, armor and shields. But do away with anything else that cant be crafted.

or at least some version of this.

You cannot go back to the "old days" without removing insurance. And that is not going to happen so forget about it.

Go back to Pre ML . I'll never give up LRC :p
But I for one detest ML for ruining the entire point of having uniquely hued event items to let a player stand out in a crowd.

Now it's just a jumble**** of colors and looks like an emulated server.

I don't think being able to access the colors we have today is necessarily a bad thing, except for the rampant color blindness that has swept through out UO, and the horrible fashion taste of so many players....

I think for someplace like doom it should take a normal player playing an average of 2-3 hours a night at least three sessions to get an arty. So even people who play all day are only going to be pulling in 1 or 2.

I agree Sarsmi, although the merchant in me wishes they hadnt changed the drop rate, I've spent many fruitless hours in doom, so I can certainly sympathize with people who disagreed with the old rate and who appreciate the new faster one, and I feel that being able to get one arty a day is not a bad thing. I do believe though that there needs to be variance in the drop rates, such as lower end less desirable artys are more likely to be recieved and the more desirable ones are less likely to be recieved.
